Did anyone else of you experience Lucid Dreaming, or dream controlling before you even knew what it was?
I’ve been able to Lucid Dream and control my dreams for years without knowing what I was doing.
It started several years ago, when I was younger.. I was maybe 7 or 8 years. I remember my first Lucid Dream, it was a nightmare and I was a Disney character. Somebody wanted to kill me I think, but then I realized I was dreaming so I hid under a table, covering my eyes screaming “Wake up! Wake up!” and I did.
My first Dream Control experience was shortly after. I used to have the same dream over and over again. And once before I went to bed I thought that I’d try to do something different than what I usually did in the dream. So when I (in the dream) walked to the left, I suddently tried to walk the opposite way, and I made it. But my whole dream started shaking and I woke up.
Later on I’ve had more of these dreams (they last longer and I have more control than before), and just recently I had a dream where I was in total control over what I was doing during the whole dream. It may sound kind of stupid, but I went around having sex with all these people, and it was fun because I knew I was dreaming. I’ve also experienced waking up after a dream (false awakening I think) wanting someone or something special to appear in the dream, and when I “fall asleep” again I continue on that same dream, only with that person or that thing in it. And I’ve had these dreams where I’m in my bed and I think I haven’t fallen asleep yet but I can hardly move and I almost can’t talk at all, it’s really frustrating and scary. And suddently I wake up. And wake up again. And wake up again. Until I finally wake up for real.
I’ve never known what these dreams were until I came over this forum. It’s so weird that people try so hard to LD and Dream Control, when I have done it for such a long time without even knowing what it was. I’m glad this is something that more people than me experience. I’ve tried explaining my dreams to my family and boyfriend but they don’t understand a thing. I’m relieved now that I know I’m not crazy.:)

Almost everyone has experienced lucidity to a certain extent. I've been lucid like 9 times before I knew about the thing. However, I thought it was sad, as special powers often were my lucid trigger and as I became lucid, I lost these powers. Stuff like teleporting, walking through walks leviate things, fly, control other people and such. All cool stuff hehe :P

and I also have been doing it since I was 7..anyway I have not told anyone about it till I knew this forum a few monthes ago
..but they still don't believe me :bigteeth:

I've been having lucid dreams (mabye not regularly or often, but still) for as long as I can remember. I first stumbled upon it trying to escape from a boring dream, thought it was cool that I could control my dreams, and kept it up.
I actually had the good fortune of finding kids who were intesrested in lucid dreaming in my area, and we kept each other motivated... so I never thought I was crazy. :)

Somewhat similar for me too...I wondered when I was also young, that if it WERE a dream, they why can't I just control it? So its possible that I had the realization I was dreaming before, but now, yes, I am trying hard to do WHATEVER I want in a dream! :D Nice to meet you!

Welcome to DV, Jemina. Always nice to have another natural around. I hope you end up enjoying this place as much as the rest of us.
You'd be surprised to know just how many of us started off the same way you did - Realizing that a nightmare (because of the danger) was just a nightmare, and learning how to wake yourself up. I was a lil kid when I first learned that, and that evolved into learning how to fly, manifest weapons to fight my nightmare creatures, etc.
But the whole "No one really understanding" thing can get really frustrating, of course. It's strange to come to a place like this, where so many people share these types of experience, when telling people you know offline about the whole phenomenon they give you the ":wtf: Ohhhhhhkaaaay..." look. Haha. Yup. Been there.....Still there. Lol.
Anyway, make yourself at home. If you have any questions, comments, etc. fire away.

Ive been lucid dreaming as far as I can remember as well. Once I relized that I could control my dreams Nightmares for me became practicly non existant. I dont think I could be happy if I didnt know how to control my dreams. For me dreaming is the pathway to my mind I can do anything in there. If i couldent control my dreams I dont see how I could enjoy sleep and sleeping for me is a great way to have fun lol.

Thanks for the welcome, I'm sure I will enjoy it here. (:
It's really frustrating trying to explain my dreams to people, because they're all like "aha.. okay" and I ask them if they understand and they usually answer "yeah" or "I think so" but I know they don't. That's why it's so nice to finally be able to talk to someone who actually can dream control themselves.
I've always though LD was normal though. Until I asked my boyfriend yesterday if he ever had a dream and knew that he was dreaming, and he said no. I always knew the Dream Controlling was something special. I've never met anyone who understood what I meant or knew what I was talking about.

Hi again
I'm happy for you." I know this feeling ...when i came here I was ssssoooo happy" ...you can talk now...we understand you :)

Not really. I wasn't even remotely aware of the whole lucid dreaming concept until I stumbled onto it on the internet. Then again, I can blame that on the fact that my dream recall has been terrible for as long as I can remember...even if I had an LD, I definitely would've forgotten the experience. I'm really glad I found this site, because when it comes to explaining it to other people...wow. It's amazing how many people think LDing is some sort of new-age garbage or occult practice, when it's really perfectly normal, but few people listen to that.
Oh well. At least this is a community where you can discuss the subject freely.
