I've always had some trouble with sleep paralysis that I never really bothered looking into, as I don't seek them out that often (I rarely do WILDS or WBTB as I instantly go lucid). Recently I've been getting less sleep than I usually do and dreams are vague and unclear, thus I experience the paralysation more often (usually I fall asleep before my body does).
I've had the same problem some years ago, where I would lay down and let the SP arrive, but it just stays like that until I break out. I'm talking about 5 minutes or more, I just get paralysed but I wont fall asleep and it gets really frustrating as the piercing sounds reach higher and higher pitches and volume.
I break the SP by moving my neck towards my body in a way, there is this muscle there that is still movable and once its activated the hole process is shut off.
I'm sure stress is the reason why I'm in this situation, but even so I think it could be interesting to experiment a little with this.

I'd just like to hear if anyone else get these annoying long SP's and how to snap into a dream instead of laying there, paralyzed. Also, if you have long SP, have you waited longer than 5min? (personally I cant stand the sounds)

I rarely get SP, but when I do its usuallly quick. However, about a month or so ago I had a really long one for about 5-7 minutes. Was annoying not being able to move at all. I had just woken up too, and wanted to get a drink of water. I finnally got out of SP and fell back asleep LOL. So yeah, I've experianced it too.

(PS: I like the sounds )

I get Sp very often and some are short and others are long, ive had one that i think lasted for about 30mins but it didnt feel that long. Also i hear the same things during Sp that i do when im dozing off durin the day; these weird whipsers and stuff. Strange!

Also i also get enoyed when im waiting there to enter a dream for ages, and i dont even fall asleep in the end! My worst Sp was a couple of days ago, i got the normal feelings but when they ended and i tried tomove (seeing if i was dreaming or still in Sp) i couldnt move. However there were many signs showing that it was a dream but also that i was awakw. I also experienced a weird form of astral projection where it felt like a part of me stood up but i had to make it lay back down "into" my body cuz it was too weird. I also got this strange feeling of never being able to wake up! But Sps are weird but the WILDs (ive had 2 so far) are quite rewarding!

Dude the SP things happen to me all the time. I sometimes wait like thirty minutes and nothing will happen. I just got my first WILD last night (after several attempts) and what I did was I opened my eyes a little while I was SP and I started hallucinating that my window was like a frog or something. lol. I then looked past it and the hallucination came less vague and it shot me straight into the lucid dream. It felt like going down a roller coaster.

So try opening your eyes a little next time you are SP.

good luck!

Hey peoples, im just starting out with LD and iv had a few, but not very good ones. Eg i still have the 'hazy' feeling and not gaining full lucidity. Also, sometimes my ld are still 'controlled' - the feeling where u are acting without your own accord, like a normal dream.
Anyway, WILD sounds like a really cool method, as it would be very realistic. With me, i lay for about 10 mins, then feel all tingly, then (get this ) my arms feel as though they are in two places at once - 1. by my side, and 2. crossed over my chest to other sides - VERY weird.
But in the end, i just get bored and annoyed due to no HI, then have to move and lose it all.

Ps, is it alright to swallow?

Hm, interesting. The longest one I've ever had was around 10minutes. I woke up and looked at the clock, relaxed and got the sp, broke out and looked at the clock again, ten minutes had passed but it seemed like ages.
Are you guys sure its been lasting for 30minutes, cause it could just be the perception of time that changes. Not sure.
I also get the hallucinations, as you mentioned hop_ic. Once I saw shadows on the walls, walking around like they were humans on a light show. It was creepy and relaxing at the same time.

I'm wondering about dream inducing techniques during the SP's because everything I've tried so far wont help me. I'd like to try getting into the dream this way, because I can choose a place to start, other than the usual cafè routine I go through. I've tried mental humming (not vocal, just in my head), but its all forfeit as the sounds I get from SP are overwhelming.

That is the same for me... I can never get any SP whatsoever from the WILD technique and I have tried 2 weeks straight... I always end up staying up till about 1:00 or so before giving up...
Methods attempted and successes:
Wild: 1
Dild: 4

I think I've never had an SP by just laying down and waiting for it to come. I only get paralyzed when I've been very stressed and had little sleep the night before, or if I wake up in the middle of the night and go back to bed again.
My advise would be the WBTB method if you like to experience those.
