Well, that's very lucky.

I've noticed that a lot of people have no idea what lucid dreaming is. That's mostly because, in my country, it wasn't mediatised much (or at all) mostly cause we were a former communist country and a lot of cool things such as good music were banned. Anyway, even now, people have no idea what it is. I've talked to a lot of relatives and most of my friends, but none of them reacted in a good way... For example, one of my friends got a bit freaked out and told me that she's not into paranormal stuff and told me to be very careful; another one told me that LD-ing isn't worth the effort of writing your dreams down; my dad wouldn't let me at first to attempt to lucid-dream because he said it was dangerous, but after a while he calmed down and now he's just telling me LD-ing is impossible :laughtillhurts: .

I think that people are either a bit close-minded or just ignorant, but I believe that in a few years lucid-dreaming will be much more well know than it is today!

same here,Ive heard there are only a few hundred thousand people who can actualy do it,or is it not taught to enough people?

i kinda feel glad that lucid dreaming isnt that well known,
it sorta makes me feel.......special :D

and if people dont beleive in it...theire loss!

I have a fealing that many of these peole who claim to know about lucid dreaming don't know about lucid dreaming.
If that makes any sense.

When I told my brother about LDing he made fun out of me and said he didn't beleive in mind reading :huh:

The ignorance of some people really surprises me. There is nothing paranormal about this, yet people still dont believe it. Its like saying that fire doesnt exist. Its just plain stupid

One person that I talked to about lucid dream said they didn't want to mess about with there subconscious lol. :laughhard: A lot of people can't be bothered I think, or if they do give it a try give up when they don't see results then next night or so. Also some people I have talked to think they can't do it and I must have something special about me.

But you gotta admit; there is a LOT to connect lucid dreaming with new age/mystical stuff. I mean, I've only known about lucid dreaming for a week, and within the first hour of googling it, I was wondering if I really wanted to know. It's just that this thing does have connotations; you can't fault people for not realizing that it's not what they've been hearing.

Okay, one of my friends starting to make fun of me about it now. He's like "Yeah, I am gonna do reality checks all the time *he does a reality-check, while doing a stupid face*" and then he starts to mess around looking stupid. Some of them also said I was weird because I have had sex in my dreams? So what? It's a fucking dream gehh
Anyways, they do believe in it, but the one of them that actually does it himself, don't think it's that cool, because he apparently doesn't get any emotions or feelings. He can't feel the wind when flying, he can't feel the excitement.

They are not skeptic, but they really think it's a waste of time. I said to them "You have no idea what you are talking about", and the one of them went sorta weird. He was like "You told me what it is, and I'm not excited"

It's sad though. They really have no idea how funny lucid-dreaming is. But hey, then I have some of the biggest fun, that they'll never get. Makes me feel special :lol:

Yeah, I've had close friends very into my dreams who think they mean something. You know, maybe they do, but it doesn't mean I'm going to predict smething for them. I just tell them,. "I dunno, maybe I have a strong imagination. Not everyone can dream about walking in an upside down house with different rooms, one being a forest, one a stinky old basement. I love to write, I have an imagination, maybe I just like to create things at night in my head" but people insist that it's a paranormal thing and it's not. If you believe in that kind of stuff, I'm not trying to put you down, I'm extremly skeptical of that given my past with my own dreams and the fact that I'm a realist, lol.

My favorite thing to do is listen to someone who thinks they've had a lucid dream then tell them one of my more extravagant, incredibly detailed dreams. Then they just stare at me in awe. What's better yet, is when I tell them one from when I was like nine years old :P

Some people believe it holds a deeper meaning, predicting the future, etc. Others don't. It is scientifically proven however, that lucid dreams, in the sense where you're having a dream, know you're having a dream, and have control in the dream, does exist.

My friend listened to LD's that I've had, he hasn't asked me how I do it yet, I'm guessing he is thinking it's not that fun.

My theory is that people think dreaming is all just a foggy kind of imagenation, that is all just somekind of day dream and can never get anybetter then just plain fantasizing, which my friend likes to do alot of, though I'll try to convince him otherwise though I doubt he has the muscle to Ld like alot of people on this site saying they try for a month when all they do is sit around doing 1 RC a day, and on and off dream recall :P.

Damn.. that thread made me really mad. I think some people just can´t understand it because they barely remember their own dreams. They can´t understand that LDing can be something so speciall.

Screw them, If they don´t want to have LD´s, that´s their choice, but they have no idea what they are missing!!

EXACTLY. I try to explain how vivid my LDs are but I guess it's just a case of "don't know until you've tried" because my friends and family don't share my fascination. :P
