Hi everyone, new to this message board and already i think it's awesome. I recently had a series of dreams in which i can hear a voice calling my name, often accompanied by a sharp, metallic laughter. Without getting too much into the actual boring details of the dreams, the last in this series of dreams was a lucid one. I became lucid when i heard the voice calling my name. At that point I tried to spin to maintain lucidity, but rather than staying in the dream i had a false awakening. All i remember clearly about the moment i became lucid was that the room i was in was very dark, and the fact that i heard my name being called scared me pretty bad. What i'm wondering is whether or not there are any of you out there that believe dreams can come from external sources, rather than simply what is going on inside our own minds. I consider myself a spiritual person, and I can't help but think sometimes that the things i'm seeing and doing in my dreams are somehow involved with a world of spirits...does that sound weird? just thought i'd put it out there. i've had a lot of strange experiences, and i just figured here is as good a place as any to discuss. thanks for any replies!

I have dreams all the time that have something to do with what happens the next day or so, but that's the only spiritual happening I know of. I've never heard of dreams being imposed on someone from an external source

Hi, yeah i've had dreams where spirits would actually contact you in the dreams, control the dream or even interact with you in the dreams. You could tell me all about your dreams but dont know if I could give you he best advise. I somehow lost my way in this world's patterns and now find it hard to contact or even feel the unseen. But good thing you came to this site. You'll get alot of feedback here from most.

Thanks a lot IZ, that's exactly what I needed to hear, and exactly why i got so amped up when i found this site. there aren't exactly a lot of people around me i can talk to about this sort of stuff. Basically, the first real lucid dream i had was a couple of years ago, and it turned into an OBE, the second one i'd had at the time. Just recently i've been trying to lucid dream again, and i've had about 5 in the last 2 months. the last one is the only one that really felt dark, if that makes any sense. the voice calling me didn't sound like anyone i knew, and the laughing definitely seemed to have a sinister tone. i've had a lot of weird stuff happen to me, a lot of strange dreams and strange experiences, and i hope to figure a lot of this stuff out through this site.

There's a central american dreaming system in which it is said that a dreamer will always encounter an "entity" usually in the form of a "voice" that can interact with the dreamer. They call it "The Dreaming Emissary".
Sounds like you met it.

if i'm not mistaken i read something about that in the art of dreaming, by carlos casteneda...i don't have the book right now, unfortunately, because i lent it to a friend i currently cannot get ahold of. i can't remember too much about it...any more information??? i appreciate the help

Not much more to tell, really. It is mentioned many times in Castaneda books, which say that it is the voice of an "inorganic being" that can interact with the dreamer, in both positive and negative ways.
Anecdotal evidence for a "voice-in-dreaming" exists on this website. I mean, I've certainly read about it a few times on here, but I can't point you to the exact threads.
BTW The "voice" can be quite good at answering questions, so maybe next time you could ask it what you want to know about it.

thanks for the help, i'm definitely going to give that a try if the situation presents itself. i actually started thinking about that as soon as you mentioned the dream emissary in your last reply. have you had any experiences with anything like that yourself?
-
Yes, I've been interacting with it for years.

wow, that's awesome...have you found it to be beneficial? sorry to ask so many questions, i'm just fascinated
