there might be psycological problims for some people (posably) but I dont think it would happen very often
now, if you think LD's actually go outside the persons body, inot the/a Spiritual world, that is another thing entirerly
Well, a person could very well encounter something in their dream, which takes a life of it's own could they not?
and if it's plausible, would it also not be plausible that this said character (perhaps the subconscious) would manipulate the person in his waking life, through things told in the dream?
I think I want to do a study on this or something.
By taking a life of it's own, do you mean that the effected dreamer develops a seperate personality in real life (or soemthing similar to that) that will cause problems or conflict in reality?
I think if someone is supurbly delusional, LD's could be harmful, say if they project an important LD character's persona onto someone in real life and interacted with that person as if they were the DC.
though would it be that bad?

say you have a regular character you talk to in your dream. He takes a life of his own, through the imagination of yourself... (manifesting through your subconsious) so you're creating a story in your dream... but eventually it is quite possible the character may try leaking into waking life. You see cases of pscyzophrenia all the time, and it's very similar in manner to this. (having voices telling you things etc.)
I'm just thinking, if there are any mental health risks in general that could be associated with someone trying to "master" the technique. (as in, every detail about it... even the unknowns)
I get what you're saying. If I'm wrong correct me on this, but so far there have been no recorded cases of that happening during a Lucid Dream. Also, this could just as easily happen in an non-ld (albeit increased, because your sub-concious has a much bigger role in non ld's). I don't think there's any danger on this happening in the future...Quote:

...although it could make a good plot for the next 'Nightmare on Elm street' film...
In Nightmare on Elm Street, they are constantly aware of their dreams, so it's an old concept in that way.

Schizophrenia is not a very common disorder, despite how frequently it is portrayed. It is the disorder, though, towards wich most money for psychological research goes if I remember correctly. It's also not to be confused with delusional/hallucination disorders or personality disorders (with psychotic features). Schizophrenia is, in essense, a complete break from reality, something so traumatic that it is highly unlikely that something as "simple" as a dream would trigger it.Quote:
