Ok...I was wonidering how many hours of sleep you need to have lucid dreams? I know people say sleeping helps a lot, but I really wanna know how much is neccasary to have a lucid dream. I usually get around 8 hours of sleep. Is that enough to get a lucid dream? And also, about how much time is the right amount?
I myself will vary from 2 hours to 6 hours but that is because of my sleeping disorder that I am slowly overcoming. Many people say for you to get 8 hours of sleep when they really mean 7.5. It normally takes 90 to go through the 5 cycles of sleep so if you sleep in 90 min multpiles you will have greater chance of dream recall and it is said but not proven to help lucidity.
Now this is simply what I have found and may not apply to you but it is all the help I can give you.

No problem. Something you may want to look into is called a "polyphasic" sleep cycle. I have heard it to be very beneficial and will help with dream recall. Granted this is only what I have researched you may want to wait for replies from people who are more "experienced".

I have odd sleep patterns and wish I could get the same amount as sleep as I did when I was a kid, which was like 8 hrs +. Now it's like 4 hrs I suppose. Somedays I wont sleep. It depends though. I get messed up.
And I don't think it matters the length of time you sleep to have a LD - seeing as though I could have one in a 30 minute nap. Obviously, if you're having 8 hrs sleep you have a good chance of having a LD. It might be a good idea to wake yourself up and have intervals or something, instead of sleeping straight the way through to increase the chances.
LDs seem to be easier for me when I'm getting about eight hour's sleep a night and am very well rested after a while of this routine. However...
I've had some GREAT lucids while napping, a couple right after falling asleep, and several while I was sleep deprived, geeked, caffeinated or whatever, so there seems to be no hard and fast rule - just ways to improve the odds.
I need 7 hours as a minimum to feel rested, but I prefer sleeping 9-10 hours.
I think having around 5 hours of sleep is enough to have a lucid if you are doing a WBTB method. Anything higher then that amount of time is even better.
It doesn't matter how much you get to a certain extent. You have to have been asleep for at least 90min, then after that you have to sleep in multiples of 90. It takes 90 min average (varies slightly from person to person) to go through the 5 stages. The 5th stage of sleep is mental restoration, which is were your dreams take place. So if you wake up at the end of the 5th cycle you theoretically should remember what you were dreaming. 1 thing you might try is sleeping for 90min waking up and then fallgin asleep and waking up every 90 min.
