Odd Theory I Thought Up

My room smelled like BO, so my mom suggested putting some candles in my room to make it smell better.

I put the scented candles on my table, lit them, and that night, they were still on when I got in bed.

The candles weren't directly facing me,

X______o o _____

^It was like that , with "X" being me and "o o" being the 2 candles. They were about three yards from me.

As I layed in bed, I looked at the wall, and the candle's shadows were like very dim flashing lights...

This morning, I had the most AMAZING dream recall, and I mean CRAZY! I had about two pages worth of Info in a large notebook- I was fascinated-
And I remember how soo clear and visible it was. Not foggy at ALL!

I'm positive that the candles had a play in this, so I'm thinking:
CILD
Candle Induced Lucid Dream.

What do you guys think?

I'm positive this is a coincidence, but believe what you want.

Flickering candle light helps me fall asleep faster, but so far I haven't noticed a correlation between them and better dream recall, it might be effective for you though, try it a few more times to see if its coincidence. Its also possible the smell of the candles relaxed you so you had better sleep, i get better dreams and lucids when I burn relaxing oils and incenses.

Hm, interesting. I'll definintally try it again tonight, I hope it wasn't coincidence o_O

And about the smells, that's true, it was a LOT more relaxing to sleep to those instead of the crap I got used to XP

Alright, I tried it again last night.
A bit different-
This time I only used one, but I put it on my nightstand so it was about one foot away from me.

The length of the dream was much shorter, but still, the visual was the same!
I don't know how the candles do it, either by the smell or the flicker, but I really believe that I can see so much more clear-
And I ALMOST got Lucid. It's actually pretty goddamn stupid how dumb I was in the dream:
"Hey! It's not Christmas yet! I must be dreami-what's that?"

:evil: As a member of a volunteer fire department, I'd just like to point out that falling asleep with candles lit causes a lot of fires, so this is just asking for trouble. There's enough ways to induce LD's. I'm all for taking risks, but unnecessary ones... I'd call it CIHF - candle induced house fire!

Candles won't burn the house down...>_>
They're extremely small and I put them in this glass container an' stuff.
If They fell to the floor, the rush of air would make the flame burn out before it hit the ground =P

Content: My room normally smells like terrible ass (wafting from my roomies room :() Candles make it smell 10x better. I love a clear head when falling asleep; helps lucidity. All the power to you. Seriously, though, don't burn your house down.

When my house burns down, y'all be the first to know =P

Oh, and I have found one flaw in candles....
The kind I have are extremely lame and cheap, and every morning the wax just dissapears or something and it's useless >_>

I buy those cheap votive candles from candles botique for about $1.50 per. I use them the make my place smell better. Creates nice atmosphere when the lady comes home, too :muffin:
