New To Lucid Dreaming Theory

I've experienced Lucid Dreaming and quite vivid dreams for quite some time now. I've discussed them with friends but unfortunately I've never found someone who has experienced them regularly or is as interested in them as me. So it's great to find this forum! I apologize if this first message is too long and convuluted, but I'm really excited to start talking about my experiences.

I'm sure buried in this forum are some old messages that would help me out. But since I'm excited to ask my questions I'll just post them now and hopefully someone can directly answer them or point me in the right direction. Excuse me if I don't use the established terminology, I'll have to read up on that as well.

Ok so on to my questions,

I experience Lucid Dreams without trying fairly regularly, about once a week on average. I haven't really read much about them but I'd like to start learning more and hopefully enhance my experiences. I've had some really great ones, but most are not very realistic or I get excited andend up waking up soon after entering the dream.

All of mine have started in the same way; I'm laying in my bed and realize that I am actually still asleep and I am having a dream. At that point I do a couple "checks", like looking at my hands, or trying to read something near my bed. I can't ever recall having a Lucid Dream start during a "regular" fantasy type dream. This really irritates me because in the morning I realize how ridiculous the dream that I was just having was and why I didn't "catch" that it was really a dream. It's also dissapointing because my regular dreams are always more immersive and real then my lucid dream.

Anyways, after I realize that I am actually in a dream I start my lucid dream always the same way. I just crawl out my bedroom window or walk out the door and enter my new dream world.

Now occasionally I am able to realize that I am dreaming but I am unable to move from my bed and start the adventure! It's really strange, my "dream body" just feels extremely heavy, lethargic or drunk, I can't even move it from the bed. Or I can't leave my room, it's almost like I'm trying to wade through quick-sand.

When I do make it out of my room and enter my "dream neighborhood" I just walk around and do things.

My favorite activity during Lucid Dreams are usually sex and flying. How sophisticated eh?

I usually just initiate sex by walking up to the females that I see walking around my dream neighborhood. Unfortunately the sex just starts and it seems I get excited and I wake up. I have tried "spinning" to get back into the dream, which works but it seems that each time I engage in sexual behavior I get excited and wake up. Are there ways to avoid this?
(As a side-note; sometimes the girls in my dream actually turn me down! Whats with that???)
(Another side-note: I started realizing that the excitement that I was feeling when having dream sex was causing me to awaken. So the last time I was having a Lucid Dream instead of having a dream girl have sex with me I decided to ask her to tell me "The Meaning of Life", [Deep, I know :)]. Anyways, instead of telling me right away, she told me that she would tell me right after she gave me a massage! Of course I end up getting excited during the massage and wake-up! :eek:

Now I seem to have control of the flying. Only a few times have I actually not been able to fly and just hit the ground (which is kind of fun in it's own way). Whats interesting is that I find the flying as exhilirating as the sex but I never seem to wake up during this activity. The flying seems to work the best in my Lucid Dreams and have given me the most satisfaction overall.

Now another issue I have, is my dreams just don't create themselves and I feel like my mind has to "render" them on the fly.
I don't really know how to describe this in words. But often times when I am walking around in my dream world, the world itself is not effortless. It's almost like I have to mentally tell my brain to create a blonde girl, a giant mountain, a fast car etc before it will actually appear. It seems that I get a little preoccupied with the concept that I am creating my own dream. The mental effort gets tiring and if I don't know how to "render" something the dream collapses and I wake up.

Anyone have any insight on this on how to avoid this?

I'm excited to start contributing to these discussions. Please let me know if any of you have any thoughts on what I have brought up and how I can improve my LD experiences!

I can solve your last one easily. Use your dream control to create a game and a character to play with chess is my favourite but cards and checker will do alright. Well just play the game with DC and imagine him playing really good that he can beat you at it. Also it helps to think of someone smart like stephan hawking or einstein.

I tried having sex a lot of times in my dreams. I always ended up waking too. Now I'm taking a break from that, so I can get used to the dream feeling. Eventually when stuff will be normal enough, and when I'm good enough at controlling my dreams, I might not wake up during my sex endeavors. At least, that's how I think about it. Having sex in dreams is considered hard.

That's because you associate being in your room with dreaming. You don't have any associations with dreaming when it comes to "fantasies", now do you? I think it's good to write your dreams down in a dream journal, and see what "fantasies" occur the most. Maybe whenever you think about such "fantasy", you should do a reality check. Also, just having confidence (this is what blackberry told me) that you're able to recognize such "fantasies" as a dream sign might work too.

Maybe you're concentrating too much on creating the dream, rather than experiencing it? Try to go with the flow. I'm sure it'll take away some pressure. (This doesn't mean you can't fly, etc.)
