like say I was to write on a piece of paper like say "If you read this you are lucid" or something and put it in my pocket before i go to sleep, and once lucid i could check my pockets and read it if it would even work...it would be pretty cool just to try out lol. i need to become lucid first :P
I know I'm pretty new and all, but I remember reading somewhere that words can look completely different in a dream. For example, dream could be rdema or something like that.
Of course this could also be a great technique if it worked, you would stop for a minute and try to read it, and once you learn that you can't, you might sit there and think, "am I dreaming?" and become lucid.
Once some people used it for going to a certain place. It was premade through graphics. You get little chiny coin in your pocket in real-life. When dreaming, you'll reach for the coin, and the coin will be golden with an L on it. If you press the coin, like a button, it'll transport you directly to the premade scenario. That's one way.
Having a piece of paper in your pocket is also a good reality. Just a paper. Nothing wrote on it. Everynow and then, when you reach down in your pocket, take up the paper. Before you look at the paper, imagine that "You are dreaming" will be written on it, or a picture of something, or just any other text. The piece of paper has to be completely blank in reality. Using a blank object might be smarter though, as paper often gets shredded while in the pocket.
However, I don't see why you want to bring something in a lucid-dreaming. Just say "I want to have this item in my lucid-dream" and as you're dreaming, reach in your pocket for whatever you wanted or, or imagine the object behind you.
/\ yea thats what i mainly meant didn't have to be a paper or anything written on it. but just an object that you could possess ounce lucid in your dream. and using it to concentrate a little more on your dream and use it like you said with the button. just an interesting thought i had. thanks

On to business.
It all has to do with how dreams actually work. Research on schemas may help. A schema is the initial thought that starts the chain reaction in your dream world. Perhaps your schema is an ocean. This makes you think of the beach, birds, salty smells, wind, etc. Whatever you think of next is what happens. Therefore, it seems impossible to be able to actually bring things into your dream; however, if you find a way to point at the object that will remind you that you are dreaming, it could work. If you train yourself to look for that object everytime a doorbell rings (or whatever you want) then you will inevitably do it in your dream as well, making you lucid. It all boils down to the basic theory of reality testing and dream signs.
