I am on lovan, its basically the same as any anti depressant, contains fluoxetine. I was wondering if anyone is on this and still has the ability to lucid dream, for some reason i have a feeling it may supress this ability. So i have stopped taking it, but im getting really depressed and anxious and my ocd is gettin much much worse. Can neone please tell me if they can still lucid dream while on fluoxetine. Would be a great help, thankyou!

hmmmm. i didnt really understand much of that, but i think i got the jist. But taking your point into account, the main priority is my health, i think i will just go back on my meds, i feel like shit without them, which may in itself be effecting my ability to lucid dream or to recall dreams, as i dont feel motivated and am doubtful that i'll ever reach lucidity, due to depression.

EDIT: Ok i just read some other things on this topic, i couldnt find anything before but thanx to ur link i could. And one scientific research site says that anti depressants actually make it so u dont have rem sleep or makes it so it happens less frequently, so now i am wondering if u can have lucid dreams while in non rem sleep, or onyl while in rem sleep?

I was on Lexapro approx. three years ago for about nine months (under my doctor's care), and I had the wildest, most vivid dreams I have ever had in my life. Actually, it could have been bad, because I found myself really looking forward to go to sleep, just to see what I would be dreaming about that night. I'm surprised I didn't lucid dream, they were that good. It's probably a good thing that I didn't have lucid dreams because I may have abused the drug and tried sleeping more or taking more of the drug.
Have you been on the drug long? If you are just beginning it, it may take three to four weeks for it to take effect.

I had been on the drug approximately 4 or 5 months before i stopped using it. I have been off it now for about 2 or 3 weeks.
I just had a thought, maybe dreams are different because the drug supresses REM sleep and probably non-REM sleep is totally different to REM sleep. So you only have non-REM dreams, so u only remember these. So if you are to lucid dream during non-REM sleep, to my understanding, you would be moving around IRL and acting out your dream. Im not sure if this is correct but from what i've gathered you move during non-REM sleep. Any thoughts anyone?
I know that marijuana tends to drastically decrease the ability to recall your dreams, but what about pills other than anti-depressants? I have a knee injury and take vicodin for it when I'm in pain. Would that "stabilize" my dreams as well?
Since I started my prozac treatment Ive had the most vivid lucid dreams that I recall
i've had some more vivid and more "stable" dreams since i started taking 10mg lexapro almost 2 weeks ago..
and my dreams havent been so random and jumpy from one thing to the next..i've gotten the feeling that I could have gone lucid but it didnt happen
hmm, ok so maybe all these studies on it are just wrong. maybe they tried it on people who didnt have depression in the first place, coz in some of them, they said subjects and no mental disorders or sumthing like that.
MexicanDreamer prozac is also fluoxetine same as lovan, so i was wondering how much you take each day and do u take it all at the same time? Coz that is exactly the answer i was hoping for, someone who takes fluoxetine yet still can have vivid lucid dreams YAY i love you! :bigteeth: :bowdown:
PaintaBadger lexapro contains some different chemical but it seems it still does basically the same thing.... hmmm did u start getting vivid dreams straight away, coz i started my medication again last night and can't remember a thing
Hey, i don't know if theres rules on double posting on these forums, but i just want to thank everyone who posted in this thread. I have been taking my meds and feeling heaps better, and to top it off, i remembered 4 dreams!!!! i wrote one of them down in full so far, and it took up almost 3 pages. :D
So thankyou everyone. I think the main problem i was having with the pills is, as Howetzer said Don't get it in your head prematurely that it will hinder your dreaming. I had the idea in my head that it would, so it did, but after realising that all these people on this thread still have vivid lucid dreams and remember them, i started to aswell. ahh the power of the subconcious ay? haha
