When I first heard about autosuggestion, I thought - "Wow, that's pretty nifty." and I gave it a shot.
I'm not gunna say it hasn't helped. I think it has, like in bed AFTER performing a WILD.
But, lately, I can't seem to control it x_x.
I lied there and was very concious, I said "I'm gonna have a Lucid Dream. Lucid Dream." and I just lie there, thinking about Lucid dreaming, what I'd do, and anticipating the event of falling asleep.

AROUND FOURTY MINUTES LATER, I'm pretty much wide awake, and people in other rooms talking or lights on in other rooms or any noise at all bugs the hell out of me. I feel MISERABLE and I can NOT fall asleep!
The only way I can fall asleep is by thinking about random things and letting my brain go off on it's own without holding onto anything.

Now that I know about lucid dreaming, it's really all I think about when I go to bed. Because of this, it takes me hours to fall asleep, and it pisses me off, because I REALLY can't stop thinking about it! Even if you said, "Try not thinking about lucid dreaming" I'd probably get worse since the act of trying to not think about things make me focus on them even tighter... Any ideas to clear my mind and stop my stupid brain from concentrating on anything in bed?

hmmm....well technically your problem has nothing to do with autosuggestion, becuase with autosuggestion you only need to suggest it to yourself, once or three times and thats it.

if your mind is going on fire about lucid dreaming and wont shut up *therefore ruining your sleep* why not try some relaxation methods? I find that when I count to 100 even some where in between random dream like thoughts invade my head, making it even difficult to remember what number comes next. im not sure how counting would work for you, but there are other relaxation methods.

empty your mind and lie still, two things will happen. random thoughts will come back and you will once again fall asleep naturally. or, you will get HI and can attempt a WILD. either way, im sure relaxation methods can help you! the tutorial here is a good place to start

and I know your pain, I've been suffering from insomnia lately and it really really sucks since I do want to dream and be lucid!
