Hey, for the past week i have been keeping a diary of my dreams but i have only been able to remember about 1 dream per night. And i realise to have the full experience of a lucid dream you need to remember about 4-6 dreams each night. Last night i had a dream, i was walking through what looked like a train station and it jus clicked in me and thought "i'm dreaming" i slapped my face numerous times and no pain. I then went on to thinking what i wanted to do, i thought about a girl i like and she appeared behind me, we began to talk but i cannot remember what about. i cannot remember what happened after that but next i was still in the station and i imagined a bed and i turned and saw an empty bed but it did not match what i visualised in my mind. After this i cannot remember what happened, next i was flying, i flew away from earth to take a look, the clouds were very bushy looking from outer space. After this i cannot remember anything else. I woke up this morning with all this in my mind. I tried to remember anymore but failed. I have a problem though, this did not seem real enough when i was in control, it seemed asthough i had control of what i dreamed about but not what i did in them. I also don't remember quite alot and there are gaps between what i was dreaming about. I haven't even started remembering 4-6 dreams yet. I can't get my head around whether it was a lucid dream or not? could someone help me find out what im doing wrong and whether this is a lucid dream or not? thanks any help is greatly appreciated.

This is just a low level lucidity lucid dream. One thing I realized in different stages of a lucid dream is that the lower lucidity, the more impulse you act on and the less real it is. When you are on a higher lucidity you have much less impulse and you feel more "in control" and you consciously choose each action. That happens a lot, having gaps in your dreams and it being difficult to remember. You'll find that yelling commands like "INCREASE LUCIDITY NOW" help, as well as generally stabilizing your dream in the beginning. Just focus on making it become very real and you being in control and being aware of your mental state and what is around you.

Thanks alot, what can i do to boost the likelyness of me having another lucid dream? i had 12 hours of sleep last night but the max i can get is about 8 hours tonight due to work etc. whenever i have a dream normally i feel not in control at all, im simply viewing it and following instructions. It was surprising i had a lucid dream last night to be honest, i don't even know why i knew it was a dream

Yup Lucidity can sneak up on you, and they are most common during latter areas of REM. Pretty much closer to the time when you are ready to awaken from a nights rest. A great way to increase the chances for another lucid dream would probably be the WBTB (wake back to bed) Method. This should help out a lot in your quest for more Lucid dreams. Good luck!

So you have to be able to remember 4-5 dreams? Wow, I'm still having trouble remembering just one and only one. So would it be really hard to have them without that much dream recall, because I've been going to sleep trying to go lucid even though my recall is not that great yet.
I tried the WBTB method with not much success, I went to bed at 10 and got up at about 4 wrote down what I remembered after making sure I was concious, of any non-lucid's I'd had. But I just couldn't get back to bed after reading for about 40 minutes. How do you keep yourself tired enough to get back to sleep after you do the waking up in the WBTB thing? Is that the easiest thing to do? I've been thinking about trying FILD tonight, I read about it and it sounded way easier than trying to think about lucid dreaming, which so far has served only to keep me awake longer. Is there a way to relax and think about remembering what you dreamed? maybe I'm just concentrating too hard. What is the easiest way to attempt lucidity? Would FILD be unwise taken my beginner status to LD?
