Keep a notebook handy. Tell yourself before going to bed some things to look out for... like repeatedly tell yourself that if a particular set of circumstances come about, this will tell me that I am dreaming.

For examply, you could tell yourself, or program yourself in a manner of speaking, by, before going to bed, repeatedly telling yourself that something happens, then you will visualize a flag popping up in front of you saying "hello, I am dreaming. This is a dream". What that "something" is depends on what you decide, based on your style of dreaming the types of things you encounter in sleep.

For me, one of my flags pop up if I ask someone a question, to which I do not already know the answer, then I notice that my brain stumbles on trying to answer the question, and a flag comes up and says "ah ha!", then I know I am dreaming and I am then able to exert some control or at least gain more awareness of my dream.

I should state that this is all based on past experience with lucid dreaming... I haven't had lucid dreaming very often in the past few years and I gave up dream control, although I'm trying to get back into it but it is difficult because of certain medications I am on.

      I must not fear.Fear is the mind-killer.
      I will face my fear.
I will permit it to pass over me and through me.
Where the fear has gone there will be nothing.
      Only I will remain

i also just came across this site, was in a thread at another message board i frequent. i have always found this very VERY interesting, and just read all of the tips, etc, and am determined to find out my own controll in dreaming.
i acutally used to have the "not running fast enough" dream alllllllll the time, and reading that made me realize that i think i might have the capability to indulge lucid dreaming.
i cant wait to see if i can....
if you think that you're strong enough...if you think you belong enough...nice dream.~Radiohead

      Also a first-timer

For as long as I can remember I have been so intrigued by dreams. I think I had my first dream dictionary when I was 8 or 9 years old. Since then, I have been very interested in them. I came upon the lucidity.org website a couple years ago and have thought about lucid dreaming every now and then, but now that I have time I am committed to beginning.

I have always had excellent dream recall, and my dreams are almost always extremely "real." ie: there is nothing in them that is all that strange. I'm reading that this isn't a very good aspect to have.

Any tips (besides reality-testing) that anyone can give? I read that there is a DOS program to make a DreamWeaver and I can't seem to find it anywhere on the net. Any ideas?

      Thanks a lot!

Bin- I think the best way is to go to sleep for 5-6 hours then wake up for an hour and then go back to sleep reciting "when I'm dreaming, I remember I'm dreaming". Also perform reality checks throughout the day. Your best and longest dreams will occur during the seventh hour of sleep and up. Dont expect much from the first five hours of sleep.
