Lucid Dreaming And The Typical, Whats That? Responce You Get From Ur Friends.

Im a cool kid in school, but my friends are starting to think im going nuts. I was for a day but thats fixed.(Read my TILD thread) My friends are always like. "hows the LUCID DREAMING GOING" lol they never stop. I have to admit though when i found out about this, i told everyone i saw about it hahah its like opening a part of me. i told my parents today too, they just got back from cancuun and they were like wtf? And they say that if i wake up in R.E.M sleep i wont get any? so wtf... i dont understand. I have a friend Whos actually my drummer who lucids everynight!!!!!! he doesn't do any techniques either. And my friend jessica says she did finger induced once and it worked. but yeah. Iunno guys my friends are the whack ones. NOT ME!

Don't worry, my mates take the piss outta me on a regular basis. It's the same. I also bought a book on nocturnal witchcraft while they were in the shop with me. On the back of the cover it says it can teach u how to read minds (I just bought the book out of interest) now whenever they see me, they say something along the lines of "So what am I thinking now, Brett?"

But, 2 of my friends have started dream journals, my girlfriend started it and some family members think its really cool (but havent go the energy to try it).

when you start talking to people about esoteric things like lucid dreaming, self-hynosis, OBEs, ect.. they tend to turn away and think that you are "losing it" simply because it's not "the norm".

its all about lack of edjucation on their part. When I recently bought a book called "Believing in Magic: The Psychology Of Superstition" my dad flipped out. because all he saw was "Believing in Magic" so he thought i turned into some kind of devil worshiper. It's actually a real psychology book about the study of superstitions. LOL! he probably still believes i'm a satanist.

It's just because your doing stuff outside of the normal scope of behavior/interests. I wouldn't worry about it. I'm sure you've explained what it is to them and they probably still think your crazy. Not really much you can do, especially if they don't want to know what it is. Much easier to make fun of someone than it is to learn about something new.

EDIT: Oh and to answer your question, my friends don't really bother me. We've all taken LSD at one point and were always into the more esoteric stuff. so yeah we're all pretty weird and have our own beliefs. but we still get along and hear the other person out.

Them: Weirdo... hippy... witch... or some other wonderful run of the mill beratement.
Me: Shrugs it off and comes to DV to hang out with the rest of the weirdos, hippies and witches. :wink:



I don't mind such responses anymore though. It's they who are missing out on an amazing expeirence. Their loss!
