so for the last 2 months or so, i havent had an LD, even though ive been trying real hard (maybe too hard).
before the LD slump, i had 8 LDs and they were all short (3 minutes was the longest, but they average 30 seconds maybe). So during the slump i kept telling myself that when i became lucid again, i was going to relax, not try to fly, and maybe sit down and take deep breaths, possibly feel some textures to stabilze the dream.
Well the other day i became lucid using the nose pinch RC in my dream. i did the RC, then as a backup RC i made a small candle levitate. So now im 100% sure im dreaming. Amazingly, i remembered what i told myself about relaxing and chillin out so the dream lasts. Immediately, i sit on the floor, rub my hands, and start feeling the carpet.
and thats all i can remember :blue:
i didnt wake up after this lucid dream.
do you think i just lost lucidity and maybe forgot the rest of the dream? or maybe i did wake up for a brief moment but didnt realize it? I wasnt excited so i dont see why the dream would end.
also, what other techniques are there for stabilizing the dream besides rubbing and looking at hands, relaxing, and taking deep breaths?
if im not mistaken, spinning wouldve stabilized it, but it wouldve also brought me to another location.
maybe i should spin anyway who cares about the location for now, i just want long LD's

First of all, the avatar and the images in your signature are creepy and make me want to scroll over your post all together... I'm sure other people may feel the same.
As for your question - sometimes trying too hard may cause you to lose your abillity to LD for a while, but most of the time it is your RL situation. It may be hard to notice what's causing you to lose LDs immidiately, but if you look back and analyze changes that were going on, you may find the cause.
Sometimes I have the same situation - I dont wake up from a LD and lose some detail. That's not as bad as you think because most of the time it is possible to "backtrack" to the LD and remember more detail. First of all think of what you remember and play it over in your head a few times. Then go over a list of LD activities that you could've done: example - flying, sex, exploration, fighting, etc. If none of these ring a bell, go over the dreams that you remember after the LD and attempt to think of what happened before.
If you still dont remember anything, dont worry, there's a good chance that after the above examination you will eventually recall the LD later during the day. This process is a lot easier if you keep a dream journal... Even if you didnt record the dream, after keeping a dream journal you would know general patterns present in your dreams...
