i believe it will answer your question and more
A Dream Guide is a Dream Character who directly represents your subconscious. Because of this, they are a great source of advice on LD'ing, because ultimately, LD'ing is just manipulating the subconscious, so your DG is the best person to ask about how to go about doing so.
tsen read my tutorial plz..you'll find out some interesting things about Dream Guides
Pretty simple. Dream guides are normal people in your dreams ( your creations ). You make a certain dream charachter smarter by believing hes a dream guide.
So, in short: Fictions of your imaginations that can talk back to you ( yes, its really you talking to yourself) but heck, if some people think they are sentinent... Their problem, just dont be sucked into that naivness...
Regardless of whether dream guides are an actual conscious entity or just a manifestation of your own subconscious, they are still very helpful: that is, they are able to guide you, as the name alludes to.

Indeed, they are some sort of middleman between you (your dream you) and your knowledge I think. But its debatable if you need a dreamguide. You could answer all answers yourself... Just that once your head is filled with this mumbo-jumbo you think you cant!
@spiritofthewolf, tsen said his opinion. Not everyone can be brainwashed you know. And 2. who said youre right?
Wolf, I've been on this forum over three years. I've been lucid dreaming for over five.
Get off your high horse. You don't know everything.
And MoD--you're exactly right.
Dream Guides are more a helpful aid to lucid dreaming. Really, you don't need a DG to do anything at all, you just need to believe you can (as cheesy as that sounds). So long as you're utterly sure you can do something, you can do it. DG's are just helpful for those who are a little shaky on their feet, or simply as an easier way of attempting difficult things in an LD.
Spirtofthewolf, i just read your post, i figured ill reply here maybe it will cause a few more viewers.
That topic is truily amazing, the best post i have read in a Long time.
I truily thank you for taking the time to do that, without that post i would have went on for a long while longer, im sure not careing and missing out on a huge part of lucid dreaming, that can also apply to your life IRL.
Iv been having alot of LDs latily, (4 sense last sunday, very long and vivid, now im on a mission. I was just thinking today, i need to find something i really want to do in a LD)
I herd of DGs and never really cared at all...now i really want to meet him/her/it.
