I very much doubt you cant do a WILD during anesthisia. Because in WILD you need to be concious. But anasthesia knocks your brain out too.
I would guess that full anesthsia is a very deep sleep and you will probably not become lucid even if you do dream.
Anyway, are you sure you need to take the wisdom teeth out?
If you got an infection, you can treat it with antibiotics. Don't take them out just because the dentist said you should. Take them out only if you really have to.
Just be sure to force your dentist to give you subscriptions for very strong pain killers, for when the anesthsia wears off completly. And I mean very strong pain killers.
I have never dreamed during general anesthesia, let alone lucid dreamed. I seriously doubt you would ever have the chance of going into REM during anesthesia since you're body and brain are completely sedated.
Good luck having your wisdom teeth out. I had mine out when I was about 18 years old - I slept through the first day, and just relaxed the second day, and then went back to work on pain meds. I was swollen for awhile so I looked like a chipmunk with swollen cheeks, haha. Everything will go fine, so don't worry. :)
Man,
Those teeth must have some serious roots!!!
Anyway you won't even have time to dream. I know that this seems odd but it will feel like you were just put under when you come to. It isn't like being asleep and can be very weird. Boom your out! Boom your awake! (albeit a bit groggy). At least it was like that for me during a surgery that I had. And it was about a three hour op!
Good luck with your chompers by the way. If you decide to have them yanked then here is to a speedy recovery and a big fat juicy steak when you are better!!!
I don't know if you have a knack for WILD, but if so, you could probably learn self-hypnosis fairly quickly. You can achieve anasthesia/analgesia in a couple of minutes with self-hypnosis, and you wouldn't need general anasthesia. Those drugs are horrible for you. Why do you think anasthesiologists pay so much in malpractice insurance? There have been quite a few deaths both from allergic and nonallergic reactions. While I don't mean to scare you (BOO!), general anasthesia always entails risks. See if you can get a local anasthetic or learn self-hypnosis. It's both fun and useful to be able to trigger the secretion of endorphins at will. Learning self-hypnosis is well-worth the (not terrible) learning curve IMHO. If you do end up having general anasthesia, it's not likely that anything will go wrong. I've had it twice, and I didn't have any problems. Just don't get it if you don't have to.
I tried that when I got my wisdom teeth pulled in february.
didn't work for me >_> yer knocked out pretty fast and come to just as suddenly.
Um, i'm really not sure if i NEEDED it out, but the dentist did say, and its already done so. As for pain killers, Oxycontin ;)
No no REM during Anesthesia, just really colorful before hand lol then i was knocked out. I think im a bit young, im 15 lol.
I've had like 8 surgeries in my 15 years of living due to cleft palate and lip repairs, so i do know how fast it seems when your knocked out. But i payed special attention to remember a dream if i had one, and it failed so no dreams.
I've gotten both general and local anesthesia yesterday, and again i've had anesthesia like 8 times i hope there isnt a serious risk. I do know however that over doses or horrible, and being i woke up, i didn't have an overdose-but other then that i've never heard of any other health effects.
Anyways lol guitar is really hard to play when your on pain meds lol. :rolllaugh:
