What got you started
O.K. so we are all posting on this site, and it took something to get us involved with it. For instance I got involved because of a dream i had in february. I did a google search on dreams and learned about lucid dreaming, and then a couple of days later i was on this site. So my question is what got you started :?:
-
I first read about it in a Carlos Castenada book sometime around 1982.
Became seriously interested in it a couple of years ago when a friend of mine gave me a copy of EWOLD.
Became obsessed with it last October when I found this site.

I had a dream when I was a child and I was talking to this beautiful girl and she told a joke and I laughed, but as I laughed I farted! and she Took a Wiff! and died. Then I said to myself Damn I must be dreaming.
J/k
But really I remember my first coherent dream as a child something was after me and I was so afraid that I intentionally woke myself up. Thats when I found my Lucidity from that point as a child when I saw that the dream content was a little too much then I would just wake myself from the dream. After that I started realizing I was dreaming and my awareness in my dreams started to increase more and more to the point where seconds would go by in my dream and I would just Know it automatically without RC's or anything. I didn't know anything about RC's anyway as a child, I thought it was natural until I reached my Teenage years and people I've spoken with didn't understand how someone could know they were dreaming. So I felt like a freak for a brief moment. But Me I don't have surpressions long so I bounced back and felt gifted.

Well I learned about lucid dreaming while in chemistry. We do these daily journal kinda things about current news. Sometime last year our teacher brought in an article about a 'new' device called the Novadreamer. Got intrested when the article proclaimed that I could "have sex with a dozen partners at the same time while being fed grapes" and searched it up. Found the ld4all site, stayed there for about a week.
I got back into it during the summer last year and found this site, but back then there were like 2 active people so I left for a while and came back again about 2 1/2 months ago.

I was interested in dreaming and read Castaneda's book "The art of dreming"... Then I forgot about it for about 3 months.. In december I had my first superlow lucidity dream  And Im hooked since that time

Whenever I had nightmares as a kid, sometimes I could force myself awake. It's wierd, because there was a basic "it's a dream" awareness only for a split second, and I didn't care about staying in the dream, I wanted to get out!
Much later as an adult, about 2 years ago, I had a spontaneous WILD into a dream of flight through my neighborhood. It was at first a little scary, but then became one of the most exhilirating experiences of my life! I was only vaguely aware of lucid dreaming, and wasn't even sure what it was called, so I went to Google also and began to learn.
Well, things got out of hand, and here I am! :D

my mom bought a book a few weeks ago about interpreting dreams, well i read a lot of it until I found out about lucid dreaming. I then searched on google for lucid dreaming and a few days later I found this site, since then I've been a fanatic :D

I think I first ran into Lucid Dreaming when someone directed me to some site on the spiritual energy, I read about it and was interested. I forgot about it for a few months, then in February I remembered it, and googled lucid dreaming and found this site :)

When I was about 5, I first started to watch the Nightmare on Elm St. movies and I had nightmares every night...and every time I would wake up screaming my head off for mommy, at which point I would crawl into bed with her. Somewhere along the line, I began to actually observe and judge the surroundings of my nightmares - I became more aware of what was actually happening and therefore could wake up with a conscious memory of it, rather than just a fervid state of panic.
Another dream that helped nurture my awareness was a particular occurrence of wetting the bed. In the dream, the house and everyone seemed normal. I was standing in front of the toilet...but the door was open and my brother was like standing in line behind me saying "Hurry up! Just pee!" It was just like any night at bedtime. I knew something wasn't right though and I kept holding it and holding it. I felt like I was about to burst so I finally just started peeing and instantly woke up just as it was happening.
But only since last September have I intentionally studied and begun to understand what it all is. I'm still growing...
/ I thought I remembered this from before, too. But oh well :?
-
dont we already have this kinda thread? or is it un-stickied now
-
If there is a thread like this already sorry... Because I didn’t know
And I think this gives newer user a chance to discuss it
-
Oh well...we have several copies of a ton of threads and it won't hurt to have another of this one, as it is very interesting to know how everyone found lucid dreaming.
The first time I was lucid was like 5 years ago. I was having some dream, following the normal chaotic happening of one until I suddenly looked at my watch, the same one I had just lost like 2 days ago. Then I thought to myself: "How can this be, I lost it and don't remember having found it, it must be a dream". It was the weirdest sensation to realize this, but I made myself wake up to prove to myself it was a dream(I know stupid...)
Well, 4 or 5 months ago I discovered this site through the "How Sleep Works" section of www.howstuffworks.com. The rest is history...
-
i got into lucid dreaming after having one about a year ago, talked to my bro and it turns out he knew lotsabout em. so then i searched google for more and found this
-
i think most people have found this on the net in google...there isnt much other way
ive never had a conversation with anyone really about ld before..weird
-
When I was little (about 3) my dad told me say "It's just a dream, it's just a dream" when I had nightmares. From there I was able to work it to lucid dreaming and have been since then (the age of 3 or 4 anyways).
I was about to talk about lucid dreaming to a friend and wanted a site to show her to at least be convincing that it is possible and I found this place.
-
i heard something about lucid dreaming about 2 years ago and did the dream journal on and off for a while then i got serious when i found this site around march then started and had my first lucid dream a few weeks ago
never had any lucid dreams before this but i think i did become slightly aware in some of my nightmares
i could sometimes shake my head (in the dream or maybe real life) and this would usually wake me up and get me out of the nightmare

I was reading an essay pertaining to the matrix. I found the term "Lucid Dreaming" and googled it.

Hey,
Some friends of mine talked about it a few years ago and told me a few things to do if I became lucid, like look at your hands etc. About 2 or 3 months ago it just happened outa nowhere. I just became lucid, realised what was happening and started to try to do different things. Then i looked on the net and found this site. Now i have at least 1 lucid dream a week.
Peace. Sensi.
