In many of my LDs so far I have been somewhat not myself. Kind of like the dream self of a non-lucid where actions I take and thoughts I have are skewed from what I am in real life. When I do get into my LDs, I tend to do more mischievous things, like take DCs women, play tricks while I am invisible, freeze DCs by altering the weather, etc. While I am awake, I always think to myself about how when I become lucid I want to just look around and admire the dream scape and talk to DCs and just experience the feeling of being in a dream. Flying and and doing extraordinary things are cool, but first I want to get a feel for the dream world around me before I start manipulating things.

Anyway I was wondering if anyone else found that their dream self has different motivations, and a different plan as to what you should do in a LD. If not how can I make my mind state within an LD more like that of my real self

Same thing happens to me, when im awake i always think about doing crazy stuff like flying, transforming, and other stuff like that. But then when that lucid dream time does come around, my first priority is girls and girls only. Ive been able to fix this over time, i think it just needs practice.

I agree, I've never really felt "as lucid in a dream" as I do while I sit here awake. There have been a few instances where I was hyper-aware (more aware then right now), and those dreams felt like I was a part of some spiritual plane. I really want that again, though I haven't had it in a while.

You might have been in a different plane. I think the plane that is closely related to dreaming is the astral plane. I dont know a lot about this but im pretty sure that plane can be entered through OBE's or somehting like that.

I sometimes get easily distracted in LDs. Even when I remember what the lucid tasks are or remember some of the things I wanted to try I find my dream self has other plans.

It's annoying but over time you'll get a better handle on control.

My LD state has never had superpowers- sometimes spiritual powers (healing, tongues, deeper conciousness) but, I refuse to fly or do things "unhuman" (once I was spidergirl but that was after a brief affection for Toby Mcquire.) Generally my LDs are my human alter ego- the person I wish I were. Most of the time I am wealthy but no one knows it, humble more than usual, and for some reason (pithetically) introverted to the point of peaking other's curiosity.
I think people in begining stages should consider their good qualities but step them up a notch...ie: sweet- to helpless romantic... bold- to sophisticatedly brazen.

MY LD self Has ADD and is in need of Ritalin!

eg from my last LD:

So i get mad at that "robert" dude and smash head against a wall!. he laughs and thinks it's funny, like i'm trying to hug him or something. so i grab steve and Robert's heads and bash them together! and they both laugh like it's the nicest thing anyone had ever done to them. i give up and look at the woman. "give me a hug!" i said. she says "Sure and you other folk can too! why don't we have a group hug!!!" I'm thinkin "NOOOOOOO! No effing group hugs here this is my dream China, Seriously. and there's nothing you can do!" and i watch as the retard DC's go "uhuhuhuh OK" and they all hug her. luckily i woke up then![/b]

Totally have had that feeling of "Was that really me?" after an LD. Makes you kinda wonder about how conscious you can really become in an LD, but I guess it gets better with time and focus. Maybe try some techniques like WILD, they're supposed to give you the best awareness since you're basically jumping into the dream.
