      Nova Pro 100

Alight, well, if any of you have read my other posts you will know that I'm new to this site and trying lucid dreaming again. I am keeping a dream journal and doing reality checks during the day. The thing is that quite a while ago (before I even knew about lucid dreaming) I purchased a Nova Pro 100. It is a light and sound machine that can be used to acheive different states of mind. Here is some information on it: (http://www.photosonix.com/nova_pro_100.htm )

I havn't used it in a long time but it's just sitting in my closet and what I was wondering is if I could use it in a way to help further my goals with dream recall and learning to become lucid? I've only been working on my dream recall for 5 days and I already am seeing an improvement and I know it's only a matter of time before I attain lucidity but I was just wondering about this.

Well if you bought it why not give it a try? No sense in wasting money.

Well I mean, I wasn't really sure where to start to use it for the purpose of lucid dreaming and would appreciate any advice on the subject.

Wow, that is an expensive little piece of hardware. I wonder if it can be used with BWGEN?

It has support for strobe glasses. I didn't see anything that said it could detect REM activity though.

I think I would try to use it for autosuggestion. Maybe choose a deep meditiation download, maybe a deep alpha or light theta. Once in that state, implant suggestions that you will be lucid that night.
you must be the change you wish to see in the world...

I don't care, I bought it a really long time ago when money wasn't really an issue. It works great though, when it's fully charged it lasts forever (like when I used to use it all the time I only had to charge it like every couple weeks) and it has 100 preprogrammed sessions and space for more customs.

I just havn't used it in forever and wanted to actuall see if I could use it for lucid dreaming

Sounds like it is a pretty cool device...does it work for what you bought it for?
      If I hadn't made me
I'd be more inclined to bow
Powers that be would have swallowed me up
But that's more than I can allow...

It has 100 preprogrammed sessions in the unit...catagories consist of: Relaxation, Meditate, Sleep, Learning, Energize, Create/Visualize, Entertain/Fun, and Special Applications. Personally I find the meditative sessions to give the most obvious results every time I use it, which consists of the very heavy feeling of your body I associate with meditation. Actually after messing around with this some and also doing some research on meditation I am able to bring myself into that state whenever I desire, which is kind of neat. Second to meditation I enjoy the Create/Visualize catagory and have had several experiences a few years ago where I saw what I thought were hallucinations but what I now know to be hypnogogic imagery. It's definitely a very neat device, and I plan on experimenting with it to see if I can use it to induce lucid dreams.

Wow, I just found a cool session.

The session is called "Delta Blast"
Description: Stimulation moves to delta, the visuals stay there while the audio moves back to alert frequencies. May inspire lucid dreaming

I just did it and it started off my making me really relaxed. As I did it I tried some WILD techniques. Thinking "I am moving from waking to lucidity" and stuff like that. After a little while all of a sudden the audio started going fast while the visuals(the lights on the glasses) stayed slow. This caused a very interesting effect, I began to feel as if I was falling and the patterns before my eyes started moving in slow motion. During this period I also tried some imagery. I imagined a grassy area with a big tree, after imagining this for a little while I actually heard birds chirping and felt a soft breeze. This went on for a while longer (the entire session lasting 38 minutes)

This didn't put me into a lucid dream but was very interesting, I felt some of the same effects that I had felt the other night while attempting a WILD (the tingling feeling in my body) and the falling feeling I have heard others describe before. I plan on experimenting with this session further and will keep you guys updated.

I tried the same session again this morning like an hour after being awake. Still no LD, it was very similar to last night, but I did get an interesting result. At one point I remember it getting very intense but then all of a sudden I realized that it felt like I wasn't breathing, this scared me and caused me to take a big breath. I wasn't sure if I had actually been holding my breath (that's what it had felt like), or if it had just slowed down a lot. Any ideas on this? was this progression? or was this just something weird?

This has happenend to me many times when I am WILDing. I believe you get this feeling because you go from breathing voluntarily to doing so subconsciously. When one realizes that this is happening and you are not breathing the way one always is, it seems to create this effect and you snap out of it.

I would believe this is actually progress, for you are slowly drifting away from this world and into the dream world...
