hey everyone. i had to write a speech on Lucid Dreaming for Language class and thought that i'd share it with all of you:
Lucid Dreaming
Have you ever had a dream that you thought was too real? Where you could control every one of your actions from turning your head a certain way to smelling a strong aroma to feeling the wind? Well this is what my topic is about. This is a special type of dream, and they are called Lucid Dreams. Lucid Dreaming is simply when you are aware that you are dreaming, while you are dreaming. When you are Lucid, it isn’t like any ordinary dream. You are there. You feel every emotion that you can feel in real life. Everything around you looks, smells, tastes, feels, and sounds real. Some people can do this naturally; others have to work very hard to become Lucid. I find this subject to be interesting and I have learned a lot about it. I chose this topic because not a lot of people know about it. I also wanted to do something “different” than the usual Speech on a Scientist or Basketball.
Most people do not think that Lucid Dreaming is possible. Most people think that it’s some crazy idea made up by someone with too much time on their hands. Some people will even say that it is just “malarkey”. But I myself have been Lucid before, and so have thousands of other people around the world. It can be one of the best experiences of your life and it is not difficult to do. One-way to become Lucid is through the MILD technique, which stands for “Mnemonic Induced Lucid Dream”. To do attempt a MILD, first you need about 6 hours of sleep. You can set an alarm to go off then, which is the best way to do it and is usually how beginner Lucid dreamers have to do it. Some experienced Lucid dreamers can wake up at the end of each one of their dreams. When you wake up, you should have just been dreaming, and are able to recall your dream. Then, you have to go back to bed, and you should enter the dream again, knowing that it is a dream. Then this should make you realize, “I am dreaming”, because you’ve seen this area or scenery before.
Being Lucid can be an extremely fun experience. Although there are many common problems when trying to achieve becoming Lucid, the rewards are well worth it. There are tutorials on different ways in becoming Lucid, and there is even a message board that has thousands of members that chat often about their troubles and their experiences.
Sense being Lucid puts you in your own “imaginary world” anything is possible. You are in a world where you are “god”. The main problem for most people is that they have “too much” common sense once they are inside a Lucid dream. This may cause them to not be able to fly or get the will to tell the teacher to “stay after class”. Your “imaginary world” is so “realistic”; it’s hard to believe that your dreaming, it seems “too real”. But as soon as you come to grips with the fact that you’re dreaming, everything you’ve always wanted to do becomes a reality. From skateboarding to winning the lottery to telling someone to stay after class and even to skateboarding, everything is a possibility. Anything that you can imagine, you can do.
