To jump or not to jump

I had a lucid dream and found out I was a coward or stupid. Well, in the dream I noticed I must be in a dream, however I didn't jump out a window. Basically I wanted to jump out of my window, however I didn't know if I was truly dreaming. So I didn't jump.

Does this make me a coward? I think the lack of dream control made sure I didn't jump, however I was waiting for weeks to attempt a fall like in heroes. Also how can I get to a high place in my dreams like in Heroes to jump.

My head hurts I think I might have my first tooth infection and need my first filling.

No, it means that you have a mental block about it.

Good example: The jump program from The Matrix. Everybody falls the first time. That is one of the best movies for explaining mental blocks in lucid dreaming. Remember the line "There is no spoon" and you'll be flying around like superman in no time.

Thats what RCs are for! Breath through your nose while you're pinching shut. If one RC doesn't work (doesn't convince your you're dreaming), go on and try a different one.

Have you tried flying? That would be a pretty good way to dispel any doubts. It can be difficult to gain much height that way though; you might have to fly over to an edge anyway (abyss, cliff) rather than going up somewhere. And probably land first and walk around normally before you'd be able to drop convincingly, otherwise you might end up just floating.

yea LDs are like the non-movie version of matrix !!!
is awesome, i think anyone who loves matrix would do anything to have an LD

Well the projections of our imaginations can be very real and judging the surroundings can be difficult when a depiction of real life is presented, i suggest that next time you do another RC before jumping, that way you are reassuring yourself that no harm will come to you physically.

That happened to me this morning. I was fully lucid, but I was unsure of myself, as I've had countless falling dreams (non-lucids). And unlike in other flying lucids, I wasn't starting from the ground--I was at least four stories up. I tried three times to swing through the window... I did make it, though. Funny thing is, the only way to gain altitude (and clear the trees) was to flap my arms! xD

But what it sounds like here is that you were less lucid. I suggest doing more reality checks to install a better sense of confirmation and confidence.

I've been there. I was standing in a stairwell in my school from years ago and leaning over the railing, debating whether or not I should fall off for the sake of falling off something. But I thought, well what if this is NOT a dream and I'm going to fall and break my bones like an idiot?? :shock:

Why jump and smack the ground when you can gently float down?

Totally, i think The Matrix is one of the best ways to show in a Motion Picture how LDs work. "there is no spoon" is one of the best phrases in there because in an LD u just have to accept the reality of the reality that is not there. In my first LD i remember i just accepted there are no people around me and no floor below, i began to fly and have been good at it eves since. But yeah everyone falls the first time.
