      Lucid Deja Vu

Sometimes when I'm dreaming, I suddenly realize, "Wait a minute... I've had this dream before. I know exactly what's going to happen, so I can prevent it." I then proceed to become lucid with full knowledge of what happens next in the dream, and act accordingly to change things with my knowledge of what's going to happen.

The thing is, when I wake up and review the dream as I'm thinking about it or recording it, I have no recollection of ever having that dream before. I believe it's one of several possibilities:
      1) I have had the dream before, I just didn't ever remember having it upon waking until this one time.
      2) I've never had the dream before, but my dream self for some reason decides that I have. Events then proceed to happen as I "remember" them happening, because I'm expecting them to happen that way.
      3) The dream occurs several times in one night's sleep. I become conscious on the second cycle or later. I remember having this dream before, because I've already had it at least one time during that night.

I'm fairly sure it isn't option 1), since I have pretty good dream recall and I don't think I would have had a recurring dream without remembering it once. Has anyone else ever experienced this, or have any ideas? I think it's option 2), and I've never had the dream before, but it seems bizarre that my dream self would draw the conclusion that I have, and this has happened on more than one occasion.

Ooops, I meant to say that I have had dreams like that.

I have to lean towards number 2, where my dream self believes I've had the dream before, and therefore changes it.
I've done it, but I think because, since I am lucid, I can control whatever happens, even if I think I've had the dream before but haven't. Does that make sense?

Maybe, tomorrow, I'll explain it better. Too tired, gotta go to bed, now, lol.

I really wish I could relate in some way, but truthfuly i've nor heard of or experienced what you speak of. I have however experienced something in the same general area (IMO)

Many times I catch my self lightly dreaming, thinking about something, that at the time totally seems like a good idea, or totally seems realistic and well thought out- Yet when I come back into consciousness I reflect over it and then have NO IDEA how it made any sense at all......

Understanding the subconscious is quite an interesting task.
