      Can left handed people LD?

      Hi,
I have been trying to LD for about 2 months now and not had any luck. I keep a DJ and do RCs all day.

Anyhow I was just wondering, I'm left handed and people are always telling me that my brain is wired differently. Not sure about that.

      Can let handed people LD.

I hope so and would like some confirmation from any left handers out there.

      Thanks in advance

      Paulh.

Just clarifying this, it doesn't matter whether your right or left handed, you CAN lucid dream, don't use it as the reason your not becoming lucid, you just gotta give it time and be patient. I've been practicing for nearly 7 months and only had four lucid dreams. Theres people that have had over 20 and have been practicing it for less time than me. You'll get there eventually, it's important not to put to much pressure on yourself.

Yeah, don't worry, you can do it just like anyone else, maybe better!

I did hear on the news that left handed people are left handed because of something that happens to them before birth. I don't remember what they said, though.

I rarely believe anything I hear on the news anyway.

I, too, am left-handed and I assure you that southpaws can LD just as easily as anyone else.

What about the binaural beat technology in which one frequency is played in one ear, and different in the other. Would that still have an effect on left handers? (Being a leftie myself)

Don't forget about trying to WILD. Even if you fail the WILD, you got a chance of getting DILD as a result of the WILD attempt.

If you do have any problems with trying to get lucid dreams maybe consider adoption on the adoption part of the forum, may help you out, but you should be capable, if you want a chat just PM me

If you can dream, you can eventually lucid dream.
Find a new technique or two, maybe a fresh start with a new method will work.

There are lefties who can LD at will and there are lefties (Hi there) who've gone years without one. Southpaws cover just as much territory in that regard as righties.

The only thing right is LEFT

I am left handed and I do lucid dream
This is not all fact but mostly my opinion.
      • I believe left handers have an advantage for lucid dreaming.

I have done studies in the research team to try and back up my thought. Unfortunately they did not.

The left hemisphere deals more with abstract thinking and the like. One reason I too think many artist are left handed.
Your right hemisphere is more formatted in structure, math, problem solving and such. Quit frankly it gets in the way. IMO.
Do I think many right handers are expert lucid dreamers? of coarse I do.

But given all the studies of the brain I personally conclude that residing in your left hemisphere more often than the right gives you a head start.

      IMO.

funkychimp, I am not left-handed, so I can't answer your question from personal experience. However, I don't see why you wouldn't be able to LD. If anything, the right hemisphere of your cerebrum could be more active than a that of a righty, but I don't think there is any science behind that (see below). Since other posters have stated that lefties can LD, I don't think this is worth exploring.

      You have it backwards.

Nevertheless, since the right hemisphere of the cerebrum controls the left side of your body and the left hemisphere controls the right side, your logic (left hemisphere ) still works. I don't agree with you, though, because a southpaw doesn't necessarily have a more active right hemisphere than that of someone who is right-handed. Coordination probably is controlled by specific sections of the brain like the primary motor cortex and the cerebellum.

I'm right handed but I think i'm whole brain. Split right down the middle. I've even done some of those right/left tests and they confirmed that.

But being abstract doesn't mean better control of LDs.. it just means you control them differently and they may turn out differently.

You see, for abstract dreaming, you follow your imagination more, let your mind loose. Break rules. The backside to this is that you can't really lay your dreams down methodically as well as:

A right brainier. Here you use control techniques and placebo. If you hit the big button, the structure in your head will play out what the buttons supposed to do. Unfortunately, the mind is more structured and you find it harder to do the impossible.

Thus, they both have their pros and cons. Most importantly however is that most of use arn't totally right or left but rather somewhere closer to the middle. Part right and part left. Gaining the pros of each side and working against the cons leads to more successful dreaming =O

Howie, you mixed up the sides: The left hemisphere is the more logical, asd the right is the more artistic.
On the other, the left hemisphere actually controls your right arm, and visa versa. Taking this into account, your argument do become valid.
However, it's my belief that for LD it's actually more important to be strong on the linear, logical side ( left hemisphere ), because that is what will help you succeed in a DILD. But now that I think about it, it could be that right hemisphere people will have a better chance at WILD, because during WILD the most important thing is to get into a trance, and linear, logical thinking can come in the way.

Yah, I'm leftie and I actually made unusualy quick progress in my LDs. I could levitate other people with my mind in my first LD!
      Control is Everything
      LD Count:33
      WILD:6, DILD:27, MILD:3
(At this point, I've completely lost count. Those are my last accurate stats.)

      Hi Guys,
Thanks for all your posts and advice. I think only 1 in 9 or so people are left handed. I didn't think for a second there would be so many left handed forum members.

Reading all your posts I get the message that Left handers can LD and I just need to stick at it.

      Thanks again

Thanks. How I fucked that up I don't know. It is pretty tough to make an argument when you have it totally turned around.
You see neither of my hemisphere's work well.
And dsr, thanks too for pointing out that error.
But I still believe as I stated above. There are certain traits that each hemisphere holds and most of the right hemisphere coordinate nicely with many of the characteristics associated with lucid dreaming.
