Lucid Dreams and REM...
I remember reading in an article that the REM stage of sleep is important because it is essential in the creation of memories and the reorganization of your brain. With this said, we know that most lucid dreaming occurs in the REM period. I was wondering if you prolong a lucid dream after you enter REM. Will your REM period also prolong? As you stretch the length of your lucid dream will you also stretch the length of your REM cycle?
If this is possible does anyone know the possible results of an extended REM period regarding overall health and the benefits that REM provides?
Thank You
Your comments are very much appreciated.

I do not believe that extending time within an LD will extend the REM cycle. It seems to be more of a perception thing, your sence of perception is extending.

When the rem period ends, so does the dream. I dont think you can extend any.

Yeah you can't extend your REM period by extending the dream period since your Dream period is directly influenced by your REM period so it would be the opposite if you could extend your REM period you would then extend your Dream period.
