      WILD and Swallowing

Whenever I try to do a DEILD during the night or whenever I have this uncontrollable urge to swallow sometimes itch. Its really annoying because it distracts me and it makes it hard to enter SP.

Does anyone else have this problem if so how do you ovecome it.

HI. I personallly don't have this problem but wanted to pop in and say that there are several others here that do. There are threads floating about that deal with the swallow or itch annoyance.

Hope you overcome this snag soon.

Westonci, I replied to your PM but thought I'd post here as well.

Do you normally have the urge to swallow when you're trying to sleep or is it just when you try to WILD? If this happens because you're on your back, try lying on your side and see if that helps.

I guess if you need to swallow.. swallow. I'm pretty sure that you swallow while you're sleeping and it doesn't wake you up. So just swallow normally and go right back to what you were doing.

Below is a similar posting on this subject:

      I hope this helps!

Whenever I lay on my back, mucus builds up in my throat and I need to swallow. For such a small, habitual action it can really ruin your concentration or relaxation.

Just try to think of something else, perhaps watch 'the lights', and focus less on your body.

Basically there are three types of action in the body:

-Those that you can only perform consciously (lifting your arm, for example)
-Those that are done entirely unconsciously (digestion...)
-Those that you can perform both consciously and unconsciously (blinking, breathing).

I think it's the medulla in the brain which does the automated ones.

Basically swallowing is one of those that falls into the third category. You've gotta take your mind off it, so that it's just done automatically by the medulla.

Then you can convince your brain that you're no longer conscious.
