Hmm I'm not sure but I've heard that you actually feel the pain from the pinch in a dreeam, so I would try another reality check such as plugging your nose and trying to breath, or looking at text, looking away, then looking back to see if the text is the same. Good luck and get lucid soon!
I belive that the rc originated from the phrase 'Pinch me im dreaming' wich could be reffering to causing enough pain to wake some one up.
But just a guess :P but good question.
Yeah it probably came from "Pinch Me I Must Be Dreaming" or something of the sorts on some occassion a pinch will cause no pain but more often than not you will feel it in your dream. I would not suggest using pinching as a RC as there are a plethera more out there that would serve you better.
I'm agreeing with Brandon on this one, pinching is just not effective for some people especially since it can sometimes produce pain in the dream which i've heard can wake you up, try something other like nose plugging or chanting to yourself "Am i Dreaming?" throughout the day, there are loads you can try.
I agree. Pinching is probably one of the worst reality checks there are. I pinched myself once in a dream in which I should have become lucid in, felt the pain from the pinch, so continued right on with the dream without become lucid. So for me, pinching is worthless.
