The Abyss?
Hi all! I did an unintentional WBTB this morning, and soon found myself in a very realistic LD. I'll skip the details, as I know most of you have read well enough lucid descriptions.
Anyway, about 5 lucid minutes later, I was going along like normal, doing vividness-increaser's like rubbing my hands together. Suddenly, I found myself in what I can only describe as a sightless abyss. I knew I was dreaming, and was vaguely aware of my dream body, so tried anything I could think of to get out (more hand motions, imagining getting out, etc.), with no success. It felt extremely numbing and disorientating. My memory fades here.
I have no real idea of how long I was there. The first thing I remember after this happened was either a false awakening or an actual awakening. Either way, I went back to sleep, entering a non-lucid dream (though I have to mention it was miles ahead of my average dreams in terms of vividness.)
There ends my experience. After fully waking up, I tried to come with an explanation. Of the scattered reports of this event in others, most just consider it a result of 'breaking' their dream with 'too much control.'
The only thing I could come up with was simply the end of my REM period, and went to phase 1 of sleeping.
Any thoughts? Thanks in advance.

Simply put your dream ended thats all.

i'd agree with the previous poster, looks like your dream just ended but you kept your eyes closed and didn't attempt to break the sleep paralysis, or you were actually conscious when you transitioned to a different level of sleep (rather unlikely, but still possible).

If I wake up from lucid unintentionally, I pass through an abyss like that before I wake, as I'm fighting to stay in the dream.
