Temporarily lucid
Last night I had my first lucid experience. (Noticed some tattoos on my arms, which usually have none.) But I don't think it lasted. The dream went on and I think I got sucked back into it. Unfortunately the dream came to me in the morning and there are some scenes missing in an otherwise lengthy episode. If this happens again, what can I do to become lucid again if I can't hold onto it the first time?

You need to keep reminding yourself that you are dreaming, the easiest way to do that is to do something impossible. Walking through walls works for me.

I try to work reminders that I'm dreaming into my dream control, so I'll think stuff like "I can fly, because I'm dreaming" when I want to fly.
Also, soing stuff that involves the senses seems to halp some people, like rubbing your hands together.

I hate it when that happens, it's happened a few times lately so i always remember now to keep reminding myself i'm dreaming.

Just do a reality check. Search it on the forum there are loads or techniques like pluging your nose and breathing, putting your finger through you hand etc...

Had a similar experience like OP, except after losing lucidity I woke up - weird, I know. I can remember when being lucid I somehow convinced myself that it isn't a lucid dream (:confused:) and slipped back into a non-lucid state.
I think it's important for people new to lucid dreaming (like me) to keep reminding themselves they are in a lucid state once lucidity is attained, otherwise it can be lost easily and who knows, you may end up forgetting you had a lucid experience in the first place!

Thanks for the tips. Hopefully now that I know how easy it is to lose lucidity I'll be able to keep it better.
