Trouble with dream recall - yes, I've been keeping a journal.

Last week, I was able to remember dreams by staying still in bed for a few minutes once I woke up. The dream would come to me after a few seconds. For the past several days, I've done the same thing and haven't been able to remember anything. I even tried reading my dream journal for a little bit to see if that would trigger anything - no luck.

I've only been trying to improve my recall since the beginning of the month, and now I can't seem to remember anything. I tried that subliminal blaster thing, too (for those who know what it is) and it didn't help at all.

So, since I'm pretty new at all this, could some people with exceptional dream recall just tell me how many dreams they remember a night and how they got to that point? And how long it took you to be able to remember that well?

Maybe you have more stress now than last week and when you wake up your not as relaxed and are thinking of other things first. Don't worry, some nights you'll remember alot and some nights you won't remember any. Also maybe you are not waking up right after a REM cycle now or coming right out of a dream which could be if you are going to bed or waking up at a different time this week. I usually remember 2 dreams per night that i write down and then alot of times something else throughout the day will trigger me to remember another dream or 2. I started keeping a journal less than a month ago and I think the most i wrote down for 1 night is like 5 dreams. I wouldn't say that I have exceptional dream recall but I've just always been interested in dreaming so have paid more attention to them.

Oh yeah, sorta forgot about the REM cycle. Maybe I'll try setting an alarm or something. And now that you mention it, there has been a lot more crap going on this week than last week. Maybe it's just a stress-related thing.

I'm probably worrying too much about it. I just hope I can keep remembering dreams and that I wasn't just lucky last week.

Try doing a WBTB technique. For some reason when I sleep through the night I can't remember my dreams at all. But when I set an alarm and wake up 4-7 hours after falling asleep, then fall back asleep I seem to have very vivid dreams.

I was doing some reading today and the average person who doesn't attempt to LD remembers maybe 2-3 dreams per week so you probably have nothing to worry about
      LD Count: 8
      DILDS: 3
      WILDS: 5

Current Goals: Try dream drugs. Perform a FILD at this hotel i'm staying at..

I usually remember 4 or 5 dreams, but have been able to recall eight on more than one occasion. I've also had dry spells where I couldn't remember any, so don't worry about it. Lots of things can cause you to forget your dreams.

Try not to move when you wake up, it chases away your dream memory for some reason. Being tired can kill recall, I noticed a dramatic drop in my dream recall as soon as I started full time summer work.

I agree with ninja. If you wake up and realize you barely rember a dream dont get out of ur bed. Stay still and ponder on whatever you thought the dream was about. If you wake up and wonder you're mind into the day ahead ur bound to forget everything.

Okay, thanks people! I was completely still and closed my eyes as soon as I opened them. I remembered one this morning and almost remembered another one - it popped in my head for a brief moment and disappeared, then I tried to remember it for a few minutes and nothing happened.

Now that you mention it, Darth, I did remember two dreams the last time I tried a WBTB (no lucid, but still dreams all the same...) - maybe I'll give that another go tonight.
