My dreams are very real. Meaning, they are indeed in color.
Where'd that come from? Either way when I dreamt without color I never perceived black or white, I just ...knew something was there I guess. I don't know, there wasn't any color, but there wasn't any black or white either, so take that as you will. It was strange.
I rarely pay attention in normal dreams. I generally only remember a plot rather than vivid images. There are however some dreams where I remember colors, either because the color is somehow relevant to the plot or because some colors are particularly beautiful. And from the one lucid dream I had so far, I also know that I dream in color because in this lucid dream I paid attention to the colors. So, yes, I do dream in color.
LET'S CLEAR THIS OUT:
Everyone dream in color. Now, the fact that some may think they dream in black and white is because they can't recall colors. It's all a question of vividness and recall. Your dream may seem detailed but black and white simply because you're not remembering it. It's not that you don't remember your dream, but you simply aren't paying attention to colors. If you find that you recall your dreams in black and white there are ways to train yourself.
Take a long walk somewhere, pay attention to all colors around you. The color of the flowers, the trees, berries, animals, sky, stones and everything else. Really "feel" the colors and take notice of different tones and highlights.
Doing this just as you do reality checks will help you to pay more attention to the colors in your dream as well.
Now, your dream might be set in a black and white movie, but I'm talking about normal dreams.
Man sometimes my dreams are so cool
It's like I'm watching pieces of different movies. I think of someting, and i see it. It ends, I think of another think, and I see it.
I think it's my brain organizing memories or something.
My sense of color has grown year after year of dreaming. Anyone ever see PLEASANTVILLE? That movie has everything in black and white, then some things become colored. I have actually had weird mixed dreams. Some of the key items are bright and most are black and white. I have froze the picture in some dreams and had it seem like shades of tan rather than black and white. About 15 years into my dreams I started having dreams where ultra vivid colors actually had shades and shadow, and many distinct colors exist. I actually still have dreams that are only lightly colored. I know what some members mean about dreams with no imagery. That is even weirder.
doesn't every non color blind person dream in color?
lucidmike, being colour blind doesn't mean you cannot see colours. It means you have difficulty to recognise them.
Even if you are colour blind, you can dream in colour. The only way for one no to dream in colour at all would for him/her to have a disease that doesn't let them see any colour, from birth. I do not know of such a disease.
And EVEN SO, the stimuli for colour can also show up in dreams (even if you cannot see colour) so I doubt anyone dreams only in black and white.
As it has been said, I believe you only do not recall colour. The same happens with vividness. Sometimes you become lucid in a -oh-so-vivid dream, but when you wake up, you don't think it is that vivid anymore. The dream was vivid, but you cannot recall it perfectly.
Hmm, my dreams are always in colour. Usually wherever I am there is a lot of light though and it makes it rather hard to see anything other than white. In my last nights dream I saw my friend on a porn site and that was in colour (One of the only things in colour) :P.
my dreams are always colourful
A strange thing has been coming up with me lately. I am having a lot of dreams that are almost black and white and silver. Here is the odd thing, in the dreams like this I have had extremely good lucidity and dream control. The dreams that develop more color and details often seem to have more random elements and my thinking is cloudy. Very strange.
Thread locked for revival :P I know it's your thread, but you shouldn't bring up a thread that's almost 5 years old :) Just make a new one
