Random conversation snippets as I'm falling asleep

As the title says, after I've gone to bed but before I fall asleep, I'll often hear what appears to be random parts of a conversation. A few months ago, I wrote some down, because occasionally they'd be somewhat amusing. These are the sorts of things I might hear (though not these same things every time):

"...in a very sensible way..."
"...what happened to your hair?..."
"...you should ask me for the monkey..."
"...learn it good and learn it now..."
"...I see what you were doing just over there..."

These aren't things I've heard during the day and there isn't a TV or anything on that would make me think I was hearing things.

I don't know how long exactly it takes me to fall asleep, but these all seem to happen within an hour of going to bed. Sometimes I'll hear it right as I lay down, or sometimes when I'm just about to fall asleep.

I don't usually see pictures along with the sentences, but one time I heard "how 'bout you get outta my hair?" and could see a girl working at a bar saying it to someone.

So, I guess my question is... what is this? Is it the start of a WILD or something? I didn't think so, because I thought to WILD you had to have slept already, and these all happen when I go to bed for the night.

Hypnagogia. It happens during sleep onset, though sometimes you might be more aware of it than at other times. It can consist of audio hallucinations like yours, visual hallucinations including shadowy figures or pets in your bed or all the such.

So, aye, hypnagogia is curious. And it's all the more curious as to what influences awareness of it.

I get the exact same thing when im WILDING, its just random shit like, Cows eat cows, or Dogs hump birds... Just random thoughts its crazy =P

I get it all the time, especially if I'm very tired. Sometimes it's voices of people I know, and sometimes just strange ones.

Haha I get these too although they aren't about dogs humping birds:D.

LMAO, I was going to say something along those lines before reading your post. :p

I get that, too, if I'm not uber-exhausted and can stay conscious for a little bit before actually dozing off.

Yours are happy... I don't hear voices, but I've heard creaking doors and footsteps :eek:

This happens to me, most often when I'm rather tired during the day and decide to have a nap. It can be really amusing sometimes. I think about it, just kinda smile to myself, then go back into the same dozey state, and more of them will come. I like it. :P

I get snippets of conversation as well.

"..that's how it was before the *unintelligible* before the first mental fizz got the world.."

Yeh it happens to me every night i'm glad when it happens because i know then that i am close to sleep. I tproduces some crazy thoughts and images.

hypnagogic imagery is the term

For me it depends on whether I was with people shortly before going to sleep.

Say if I spend the evening with friends, or in a crowded place, I would hear loads of ghost-conversations upon falling asleep. If I spend the evening alone though, or somewhere quiet, I generally wouldn't.
