Dream Information Recall - My First Post

Hello all, this is my first post on this forum so please excuse any thing that may have been asked/answered already as I really don't even know how to search for the answer that I am looking for.

When I was in 4th grade one of the student teachers got me and all of my friends very interested in dreams, and the "dream world" if you will. It took much convincing but she got us to believe that her boyfriend could control his dreams and do "god like" things at will while in the "dream world". She told us that she was following his teachings and aspiring to be able to control her own dreams. That is all we had to hear, we decided that we to were going to be on the bandwagon. I don't know if I have all the terminology correct but from reading the stuff on the main site I will try, please correct me if I am wrong.

She said that all you had to do was have one dream where you realize your dreaming (become lucid) and immediatley after tell yourself to look at your hands. It took me a very long time until I was finally able to do it and since I had been planning on it for so long in my 9 year old mind, I already knew what I was going to do.

So it happened! I was having a dream, if I remember correctly, I was sitting at a lunch table with all of my friends and something triggered me into knowing it was a dream, I felt a warm sensation all over my body, it was half fear half excitement but I could definatley feel it all over. I looked down at my hands and they looked like skeleton hands surrounded by black, tv static, is the only way I could describe it. I kept looking at them and eventually they became clear and I felt in control. Like I said, I already knew what I wanted to do so I started flying around. The dream ended very fast after I took control but I felt that warm sensation all over the whole time. I woke up and knew exactly what had happened and was actually very scared. I felt like I had gone against the norm, for instance if you were meant to control your dreams, you would. I didn't really explore it much further after that and was actually afraid to go to sleep for a little while. All my friends kind of stop being interested too but I don't think they ever actually experienced it.

Since then I think that I have had maybe a dozen lucid dreams, I am 21 now that was 4th grade. The same thing happens everytime, I have a dream, I get a "cue", I look at my hands (although they are not skelatal anymore), warm scary sensations, dream ends.

Like I said, I have not explored this in years but I had a non-lucid dream last night that triggered a question that I have been yearning to be answered for years. I did not even know that there was people out there taht explorer this and I am glad I found this place. God bless the internet. My question is:

How come in dreams, exact information is recalled that you were sure you forgot years ago. And if you are able to recall it in dreams, there has to be a way to tap into that source of information and recall ability and put it to work for you in the real world. Let me give you an example.

The dream I had last night is what triggered this so let me explain. My girlfriend and I just broke up, she was in my dream and she had a lady bug tattoo on her back.

She told me she wanted a lady bug tattoo like 2 years ago and it was never spoken of after that. If I see a ladybug, or a ladybug tattoo it does not trigger that memory. Before last night if she asked me what kind of tattoo did I used to want it was an insect of somekind i would not have been able to answer.

This is a basic one, there had been many other occassions where I have dreamed of something that was exactly the way it was when it happened except it was 12 years ago and I could have never explained it before the dream, but as the dream is taking place, it is so vivid and easy to remember how it happened. Its like spiritual enlightenment or something. How do we as humans tap into that energy or whatever it is? Its like having a photgraphic memory, but instead its like video memory sort of like in that movie strage days.

Sorry about being long winded, looking forward to some responses. I got somemore odd 4th grade dream exploration stories I would love to share if this goes over well.

      Mike

      first off, welcome mike.

it sounds like you want to break into the subconscious. you could try meditation or hypnosis. personally i don't have much experience with either of them... i've tried meditation but i'm never satisfied with what i get.
