Hey ya well i have had a lucid dream once and it was very short but i missed out on how realistic it was. So any one who has had a lucid dream how real was it ? When you felt someting was the feeling real just like in reality? How about what you saw in your lucid dreams did it look real just like in reality or better? :? PLEASE PLEASE I NEED TO KNOW ALL OF MY LUCID DREAMS WERE SOO SHORT!!!! SO IF YOU had one describe how realistic it was

Depends, sometimes the dreams are to hard to hold on to, and sometimes they some more real than reality. About the shortness, try not to blink when you are new to LD's, sometimes it'll wake you up.
And please don't make off-topic polls.
lucid dreams are very realistic one time i had a dream i saw a kid drinking coolaid i became lucid and stole it from them i drank it it tasted so real :D. everything is very real and its all yours do anything with it you wish!
I voted "yes", but it's barely a "yes".
I'm a relatively scientific person, but even a woman of science must admit once and a while that not everything has been completely explained by science or any other means.

But I have had LDs before where I wasn't completely sure if I had falsely awoken, or had awoken for real at night, and I heard voices all around me that had no bodies to claim them.
So either it was an LD, ghosts, or I'm schizo! :P
i would have to say yes and no, no the ghostv you see arent real, but my opinion is that these "ghost" you see are merely impressions, strong impressions of an important moment in sombodys life, they just seem to become part of that space as an ever repeating moment.

I had an unbelievably real ld once, I could barely tell the difference, and I must say I really enjoyed it :D
I feel that there are so many levels of Lucidity that this is a very difficult question too nail down to the T. I have had some, like Dougdrums said that are," very hard to hold on to", making them seem very vague. However the vivid ones I have are as real as your waking concious life. More realistic? I don't think I understand that, but it could be a higher plane of Lucidity that I have yet to expieriance.
I have had a few lucid dreams...but I haven't heard of anyone else having theirs the same way I have mine. I gain control of the dream even before I realize that I am dreaming. Control of the dream IS my dream sign. For example...I will have some sort of powers i.e. I can turn my hands into whatever I want, I can walk on ceilings etc. And then SOMETIMES I will realize I am dreaming and can guide the dream in whichever direction I choose. However, almost all of my LDs occur in the 3rd person. Like I am playing a video game with myself as the character almost.
On a sidenote, I visited this site for the first time 2 days ago and found it to be very informative and helpful. I had a lucid dream, not knowing at the time what it was, and thought it was pretty cool. I had some spare time and was a bit bored...searched for "dream control" on google and this popped up. Now I'm working on honing my skills.
Ghosts eh...... you tell me what you think a ghost is and ill tell you wether i believe in "ghosts"....dead people, no.
as for having lucid dreams, i have always known im asleep when im asleep. I never try to control them (anymore), however of late i have been having a lot more trouble remembering whole deams, anyway, that i suppose is another subject matter altogether.
ghosts are bullshit, and there's nothing scary in your dreams unless you are thinking about it, and even then you should realize your mistake and you can get rid of them, because it is all FIGMENTS OF YOUR IMAGINATION.
There was once this guy on these boards that had the same problem and he told us that he was like "oh shit now the chick from the exorcist is going to be there" and YEP she was there because he thought she would be, he 'summoned' him, because thinking something is going to be somewhere is the way many lucid dreamers summon objects they want.... So say they want a sword, they think the sword is going to be behind them and when they turn around it is there. If you start to think that something scary might happen, it will happen because you've just summoned it. And even then it is not a scary thing, it is just something that looks scary because you thought it would look like that and scary, and it will act like you subconciously think it will. So start thinking the scary monster actually likes fluffy bunnies the next time you make that mistake and watch the big beast play with cute bunnies. And have a laugh.
I had a lucid dream where I realized I was dreaming within the dream because the situation was bizzare (did a digital watch RC). I didn't have the best control but I was able to float around. Even though I was supposed to be at a friends house, the interior was the exact format as my house. It's amazing how the mind can reconstrute places so you don't have to question it...
I've had varying degrees of lucidity (correct word?), from more of a drunken conciousness to full seeming reality where I wasn't sure if I was awake or not for a period of time. The most memorable one I had was where I was at a wedding and I figured out the dream was was a dream and went lucid, and I started having a matrix style jumping arial battle with The Duke off the movie "The Boondock Saints". Even though I was totally lucid, I was getting owned bad. I had to resort to using cheap tricks like shooting fireballs to win, but I lost lucidity when the scenery changed. Odd dream, but it was one where I was most lucid. Smells and sounds and everything were so real to me, but I had total control over my movements to the point of controled flight and super hero abilities.

If you start to think that something scary might happen, it will happen because you've just summoned it. And even then it is not a scary thing, it is just something that looks scary because you thought it would look like that and scary, and it will act like you subconciously think it will.
Also in the waking life, people with strong fear of something, sometimes have hallucinations of it.
Hallucinations also may occur in extremely lack of sleep, etc.
If you are afraid of ghosts, don't think of it. Try instead to keep your mind busy with more pleasant thoughts.Quote:

As most people here have already pointed out, it depends on the lucidity level you have. I have had many LD's were everything seemed too real even, it is hard to explain, but it felt more real, more connected to me somehow, than what we call reality. If what you are looking for is motivation, then I think you should read the lucid experiences forum. Believe me, there you shall recieve every single bit of motivation you need and more. It is worth the effort...

I just recently started having lucid dreams that I can hold onto for more than 20 or so seconds. The similarity to reality varies from dream to dream for me. Some of them look like paintings, some look like cartoons, some look just like reality, some look like reality with a strange glow, and some look like reality except with some extra metaphysical tint (hard to explain). As mentioned earlier, some lucid dreams can seem even more real than reality. Your mind can be in an expanded state, perceptions can be stronger, and emotions can even be stronger. I would say that most of my lucid dreams have looked like reality, except with some kind of bizarre twist to the nature of the environment, and the emotions and sensations are most often altered in some kind of way.
In My Humble Opinion:
The answer isn't as simple as a yes/no
I believe in ghosts - but not as we understand them.
I believe there are 3 types of ghosts:
1) Energy left behind by an entity - usually after death, and usually with great emotion. This is no more than a 'hologram' if you will
2) Psychic people that are unable to control (and often unaware) of their abilities. They can manifest some frightning situations.
3) Similar to (2) - a person possessed by an evil spirit. They exist. And they aren't friendly. It has a similar effect to (2) in that its the person's own inherent abilities that are being harnessed.
Just my opinions... and you know, they're like A*holes. Everyone has one, and they all stink... so on so forth...

Of course the others are different
So far, I've had only 2 lucid dreams that I could hold longer than a few seconds before waking up. Both were unbelievably real; all of my surroundings were exactly like the real thing, with one exception. I had a vague feeling that was I could see and hear and smell and feel was veiling my from something else, like there was another world just beyond my grasp... which in some ways was true.
As for ghosts: nope.
back in the day, when i was 19, and was still fighting sleep paralysis instead of working with it...i had a very strange occurence...
i was sleeping on my couch because my younger sister was staying over at my place.... i awoke in the usual paralysis state but in far more discomfort than ever...i thought i was dying but couldnt move or scream or whatever...i fought to escape the situation...and reality seemed to POP like a balloon....i then found myself looking at myself from the perspective of being on the floor (my only experience with OBE ever) and i could swear there was an old man standing over my body... though i could not quite make out his appearence, he seemed familiar...anyways i woke up
the kicker is... i told my sister about it the next day...then the following day i found out my great grandfather had died that very same night of heart failure...
could be coincidence ...or not....still i like to think he was saying goodbye

I think my heart rate had increased a lot if this had happened to me.

I've had TONS of lucid dreams but they all are very short. I've had like 6-7 10 minute ones, there great!
im with ophelia, bein an engineer major im def a man of science and i dont believe in ghost stories or haunted houses on halloween and stuff, but i do believe there are some spirits wandering around on earth, maybe in limbo or somethin, i dunno. when i was in middle school i had a really good friend that had a ghost or spirit or somethin livin in her house. every once in a while doors in their house would just close randomly, like shed be in her basement and shed hear a door upstairs close when she was home by herself. i asked her if it coulda been a window that was open and she said whenever she checked no window would be open. also every once in a while at random times the stereo her family had would just turn on and be on a country station. her and her family all experienced it, and even if it wasnt left on a country station it would turn on and be on one. thats the extent of it though, no one in her family ever saw whatever was doin it, and it never did anything to cause fear so after a few months they just accepted it and paid no attention to it.
i definately believe in gosts.... as a matter of fact, for my bday(this friday), my friends and i are going to go on a ghost hunt :D and my lds also appear very real... last LD, i almost flew, but when i saw how real the pavement looks, i had second thoughts on jumping off a 3 story building
