Hey there,
The single most effective thing that I can think of to induce lucid dreams is the following:
Go to sleep, set your alarm clock for six hours. Wake up after six hours, and for half an hour, read about dreaming, lucid dreaming, and what not. (reading this forum and replying to things would be an excellent thing to do).
Go back to sleep after that half hour.
The chances of having a lucid dream after that increase dramatically. The reason is simple, you're body is still tired, but by doing this you're not only awakening your mind, but at the same time focussing its attention on dreaming and lucid dreaming.
It's not a garantued succes (nothing ever is), but it is a lot easier then these forced techniques, especially for beginners!

I am only good at DILD, simply because i fail at all other techniques :D
If your wondering which technique to try, maybe think about WBTB or MILD, if you want more of a challenge go for a WILD, just experiment because that way you'll find what works best and you can stick to it :)
