Memory and Learning
I think my psychology instructor said that your subconscious mind
records your whole life. Everything you've heard, read, said, or seen.
If she was wrong, stop here and tell me.
If my subconscious can remember every second of my life, the n
couldn't I learn a lot from a LD? I know I can, but what I mean
is this, if my subconscious can remember all of a book about
LDing, then couldn't I make a DC with all that information to
talk to? And if they knew all of that then couldn't my conscious
mind after enough talks with the DC?
I also wanted to know this, if I have a whole movie in my
subconscious, then couldn't I find it and watch it in my dream?
I love movies, and I would love that.
I just think there is so much to LDing that it's hard to
comprehend. We only use a small portion of our
brain, so I think LDing is a tool. I love learning,
and I would give anything to be intelligent, and
I think this is a chance. I could learn so much
about myself that I don't know, and that
amazes me.
I apologize if there's been a thread on this before.

Hey there,
Lucid dreaming (and dreaming in general) can certainly help you learn a lot about yourself! It's not for nothing that Freud called the dream the Royal Road to the unconscious.
Additionally, whether or not the unconscious remembers everything we have ever seen, done, etc or not is a subject of much debate among psychologists. Some theories like psychoanalysis claims that the unconscious is basically 'timeless', and like you said, would remember every single thing that you ever saw (and a lot more because it would include every single thing that you noticed but might not have been consciously aware of)... as if it was happening 'right now'.
Other theories tend to claim that that is an exaggeration, and that we do forget, but that only certain assocations or feelings are stored. Regardless, MOST theories do agree that the capacity for memory is far larger then that which we can consciously recall, meaning there's a whole lot of memory that we have that we cannot easily acces, but can be brought to consciousness via certain techniques.
Can you use lucid dreaming to learn? It would depend what you're trying to learn, I guess. Can you learn more about yourself, absolutely! Can you learn more about 'quantum physics' for instance, that is a lot less certain, though lucid dreams can certainly provide you with new inspiration and creativity that will help you learn or provide you with a sudden new insight on matter that you thought you were already familiar with.
Hope that answers your question,
