An opposer of dreaming?

I am currently in the process of picking a topic for an argumentative paper. I would really like to do it on some aspect of dreaming, but before I can do that I need to find an opposing view on the matter. I need to find a person or organization that directly opposes the use of dreams, or opposes the idea of a heightened dream experience. I have been doing a bit of research, but finding an opposing view is eluding me. I am wondering if anyone has stumbled upon an opposing view of dreaming, and if so could I get some information on the subject (link or book to where the opposing view is stated)? I would greatly appreciate it!

EDIT:
If someone knows of a person or organization that opposes dreaming but cannot find any quote or info on it can also just tell me about it so I could have more avenues to researching it! I would LOVE any help or information I can get, thanks again!

Opposes dreaming or lucid dreaming? I can give you a few arguments against lucid dreaming:
1. Some people come to the point where they can't discern dream from reality, so become paranoid.
2. Some methods of inducing LDs can result in broken sleep paterns (WBTB)
But how could anyone be against dreaming? It's a natural thing, everyone does it.

First off, thanks for the quick help. Right now I am really just trying to find ANY kind of opposing view so I can create an argument for it. Obviously it will be easier to find opposing views against lucidity other than just natural dreams (oddly I didn’t search specifically LD, must have slipped my mind). Thanks for the help! Honestly I bet we can find an opposing view to things such as a heightened dream recall or even dreaming itself. It is amazing the amount of diversity when it comes to opinions. I mean honestly who would actively oppose soldier’s funerals, or the praise the CT shootings? The Phelps family shows that someone does! I am assuming that there COULD be another insane stance on dreaming…

I had this issue with better recall. And I suppose dreaming, even not lucid dreaming could be used to escape reality. Regular dreams not so much, but you could make the argument. People sleeping their life away because they like dreams better.

You could write about whether or not ethics apply in lucid dreams, afterall in lucid dreams you are conciously choosing to do actions which you wouldn't in waking life e.g. kill someone, have an 'affair' in your dream etc.

I've seen posts on LD forums about this question before but I can't think of organisations with this view. Maybe really religious people may believe this?

Dunno if this is going to help, but personally I thought this would be easier to write about than someone thinking LD's are satanic or something. :eh:

Good idea, I never thought of that.

Some people think dream serve a purpose for the subconscious mind and to change them will mess with your psychology or something.

Yeah... I know I'm beating the dead horse but some people become obsessed with it and use it as a way to escape their natural lifestyles. People will spend more hours sleeping (or trying to sleep) than awake and become addicted...

If you need to cite sources, I know that there is something on the web that talks about the dangers of lucid dreaming... I was reading it yesterday or this morning (not sure though... I am addicted to lucid dreaming and can't discern between days! lol jk jk... but close)... I forgot what the title was exactly but it was in the subsection of something... OH YEAH! It was a wikibook... K so new train of thought...

Click on the Education tab (it's pretty low down there)

Somewhere in there is a post about a lucid dreaming book.

Somewhere in THAT post is a post about a book/ wikibook.

Click on that.

It's one of the subsections... it's like "Problems with lucid dreaming" or something of the likeness...

03. Lucid dreaming turns you into a narcoleptic
04. Lucid dreaming leads to daily exhaustion
05. Lucid dreaming disrupts dream interpretation
06. Lucid dreaming is a new-age, occult concept
07. Lucid dreaming is a sin. Don't do it or God will smite you.
08. Lucid dreaming, and controlling those dreams, makes you a control freak
09. Lucid dreaming, and letting you do anything, encourages bad habits
10. Lucid dreaming, and letting you do anything, is unethical
11. Lucid dreaming is addictive
12. Lucid dreaming may cause someone to confuse a dream for reality
13. If the above occurs, that person may accidentally kill themselves
14. Lucid dreaming causes people to reject the real world in favor of dreams
