This movie is insane, it's animated, but most of it is real looking, not like dragonballz crap, it's about a guy who is lucid dreaming and learns all about it, and he has these philisophical discussions with people, its really trippy, especially since it's animated stuff moves, it's like, it was made for acid and shrooms, but past that it really makes you think. :D

That picture isn't really explanitory, but it is kind of cool
A lot of us have seen it actually... It makes very good points overall, but a few key character's acting is kind of shabby, which I don't care too much of though.

Yep - its like he said, very interesting and thought provoking. But that's as far as it goes.
The animation is irritating, most of the characters suck.
Lets put it this way, my wife had to stop watching after 10 minutes because she was getting seasick from the animation
I actually like the animation, I admit at times it gets to be a tad distracting/annoying, but I thought that was the best way they could have made it, perhaps.
The characters each present a unique point of view, and thought I wasn't as interested in some, I value each one for what they have to say...
This movie is what opened my mind so to speak on LD. It was moving and inspiring. I recomend it to the entire fourm.

I don't seem to find any instance that might be inapropiate for teenagers or such. Bullcrap. That is just the system trying to prevent us from philosophising, and actually thinking.

So you might be saying, well, wait a minute. What about quantum mechanics? I know enough contemporary physical theory to know it's not really like that. It's really a probabilistic theory. There's room. It's loose. It's not deterministic. And that's going to enable us to understand free will. But if you look at the detail, it's not really going to help because what happens is you have some very small quantum particles, and their behavior is apparently a bit random, they sort of swerve, their behavior is absurd in the sense that its unpredictable, and we can't understand it based on anything that came before. It just does something out of the blue according to a probabilistic framework. But is that going to help with freedom? I mean, should our freedom be just a matter of probabilities, just some random swerving in a chaotic system? That starts to seem like it's worse. I'd rather be a gear in a big deterministic physical machine than just some random swerving. *
So we can't just ignore the problem. We have to find room in our contemporary world view for persons with all that that entails. Not just bodies, but persons. That means trying to solve the problem of freedom, finding room for choice and responsibility, and trying to understand individuality.
I did think it was a little over the top, but I didn't feel like explaining it any further. Pretty much what I mean is that there is no reason for it to be rated "R", and in my opinion it is an attempt of preventing young people(those that aren't yet as inmersed into the system to depend on it and conform) from thinking freely about things that can compromise the intergrity of the system...I know it sounds like a whole conspiracy theory, but you'd be amazed how many things are tied to keeping the system intact...Quote:

P.S. The free will segment is my 3rd favorite, after the loudspeaker car guy and the four guys lead by adam goldberg...
I think it's restricted because of the occasional bad language, and death scenes...Still just an excuse to keep the system alive though ;)
Don't forget the guy in prision, I believe he uses the 'f' word alot and calls people(dunno who) c**ksuckers...oh yea and the guy who pours gasoline all over himself, and lights himself on fire lol :shock:Quote:

Waking Life was the thing that introduced me to the concept of LD'ing.... Brillinat movie in its own right. :oops: I even memorized the conversation the main character has with the director (the guy at the pinball machine)
yea after i saw waking life i joined this forum :) i think they kinda had to make it animated with a buncha shit goin on so the viewer doesnt get too bored. its a good movie but it kinda feels like youre in a lecture, and if it was just real actors talkin to each other itd get really boring.
I didn't see it as much of a lecture as I did a complete perspective-shift on reality. I love the long, intricate dialogue because it's so easy to follow (on mushrooms, haha). I do agree though, that if it were regular actors without the visual stimuli, it wouldn't have NEARLY the effect that it did...Quote:

haha i dont even need shrooms to watch that movie, watchin it sober makes you feel like youre trippin, especially the one scene where the main character is walkin down the train station and behind him the hall is movin up and down like a slinky...

That was the trippiest part in the whole movie, I loved it :)
Shrooms doesn't make it visually more intense, it makes it ideologically more intense...
If you want to make it more intense visually I suggest you use 3d glasses...you can thank me later :P
