Can we travel in time also?

I've been pondering this as a result of the Dream Views party thread. Here goes.

We can move about in our dreams in three dimensional space by focusing out intent on either where we want to be, or by moving in a direction.

Would it not also be able to focus our intent on moving either forward or backward in time? Or transporting ourselves to a date and time?

If so, then Dream Views members should be able to LD at different times and dates and intend themselves to meet, say at the Great Pyramid at the stroke of midnight on New Years Eve.

Might be interesting. Of course, I am still having trouble with three dimensions. :)

Interesting thought, but that all depends on a lot of different beliefs, really. Though, if your talking on a strictly mental scale, then of course anything is possible.

I tend to beleive this as well, I do not think the dream world and this are correlated in regards to time, my LONG stints in the dream world have led me to this thought.

I even think two people can meet in a dream at different times. I could dream of going to the piramid today and talking with you, and you have that dream a day later and have the same conversation. Of course, one wouldn't be able to distinguish a time travel from merely replaying the same dream at different times.

I would imagine that it would be easiest to travel back in time rather than forwards, since the future is more fluid and it is harder to "predict"...On the other hand the past is already happened, so could you really change what already happened? I'm already confusing myself :?:

Now this is an interesting topic. I personally don't think time-travel is possible in any way though.

this is the site I've been meaning to post. The story is a guy started posting on a time travel web site saying that he came from the future to retrieve an old IBM computer. He makes predictions very exact ones and has pictures and blueprints for his time machine. He said he was going to leave one day and then has been heard from since. I can't tell the story very well just look at the website it's very interesting.

when you talk about mental time travel, well we do that everytime we remember something-visiting the past. okay, so that's not so impressive. however, this also brings up the notion that people can have premonitions and predict the future-mentally traveling into the future, which is a more interesting topic. physical time travel is more complicated...your dealing with the movement of mass through time. time in itself is sticky because some would say that it does not really exist. if it doesn't, than why can't we travel about within our own freewill? for it to work, we would first have to figure out what it is that is limiting us from achieving this. to me, i think it's less confussing to move about in my dreams, :wink:

There's a big difference between remembering the past and actually travelling back in time.

yes, there is a big difference. and i'm glad you pointed that out because that was my point. there is a big difference between mentally and physically traveling. i was trying to express that. what i gave were examples. the same can be said for reading a book or watching a movie. your mind seems to go to whatever place and time the characters are in. the same can be said for mucis. haven't you ever heard the expression, "it's funny how a melody can bring back a memory, it takes you to another place and time, it can even change your state of mind...". or even some scents. ever smelled something, like maybe a candle, and it reminded you of baking cookies with your grandmother, or something. i think mental time travel is more possible than physical time travel. depending on your perception of time travel, it can be similar to having a memory-sometimes ones so strong you daze and hear and see nothing of what is going around you-your mind is somewhere else. :roll:

Its lucid dreaming so I’m sure it’s possible might take a while to find the 'trick' to it tho. The thing is would it be any different really than moving to a different location that was 'older' or 'newer' since there is no real time in dreams i.e. any moment is unique to you as there is no external observer so the actual concept of time becomes rather defunct.

EDIT: Just read that back and I’m not sure it makes sense anymore but ill leave it in anyway as food for thought :D

Actually, that wasn't what I was trying to point out. I don't see much difference in physical and mental time-travel (because mental is just a whole bunch of neurons firing) but a huge difference in actuall travel and all those other things that aren't time travel at all.

Of course going back in a LD to visist the 19th century (or something) isn't very odd, you just need an internal idea of what it would be like and the subconcious would make it real for us. But actual time travel, where to Lucid Dreamers would meet in the dreamworld (disregarding any debate whether or not it is possible to meet) when they are dreaming at different times is a whole different story. And it would have to be more than just seeing the other person or hearing him/her speak because that could just be a lingering "shadow" from wen he/she was there earlier.

Would be interesting to hear the thoughts from the original thread creator.

A good test for this would be to think of a Roman city that is well documented, but you don't know about. Find the year it was around in, get in a dream, time travel to that city, and upon waking read the infromation about the city and see if anything matches - after you've wrote it down, of course.

ok, i'll admit, i'm confussed. but, are you trying to say that having a strong ld is like physically and mentally time traveling? if so, i agree it would be mentally traveling, but your still not physically leaving your bed. maybe i'm totally lost. this is normal for me though :oops:

No, not at all. Quite the opposite. I'm not making any connection between LDs and time travel at all.

What's up seeker. You wanna travel in time, have ascend to the astral plane and then do it.
That's not my forte though, that place is to shroud in mystery.

EDIT: See the first time I don't really flesh out a post I fuck up. I've been told that time traveling in a dream requires more than powers of awareness brought on by lucidity. The factor of your "soul calibur" comes into play.

I am trying to get into the higher astral planes, little luck though!

I feel you there I don't even mess around with that. I just use my dreams to increase my intelligence and learn skills at an extremely accelerated rate. So I guess you could categorize me as a dream learning specialist.

I have no idea if what my lucid dream last night corrolates(probably not even the right word) with time travel. I think i timed travel, but not sure. it could've just been remembering. I posted my dream here so please take a look seeker and see if it helps you

I heard you can time travel with remote viewing. You could choose a specific time to look at what happened.

personally i don't believe in time travel, if we DID somehow harness time travel then i wouldn't use it as it could disrut the very fabric of space and change earth as we know it.
