how would you describe it to a friend?

I know there might be another thread similar to this posted, but I don't have time at the moment to search through the whole forum to find answers. Anyway, I've told a few of my friends about lucid dreaming. Some of them, of course, didn't really understand and either thought it was stupid, or thought it was really weird. Of the two that actually get it, we talk about it a few times, but I try to be subtle about the way I tell the stories so no one really thinks it's anything weird. Another friend of mine, Celeste, is starting to wonder what it is. I guess I haven't been as subtle as I thought. She doesn't seem like the type that would understand. Either she'll think it's weird that I'm so into something so "pointless" or she'll think it's strange. How would you explain lucid dreaming to someone like this?

I would appoach it very practically. She may have already had a lucid dream in her life, which would make it easier because she has already had one.
Otherwise, I would just state the facts. Tell her that it just means that you know that you are dreaming when you in fact are dreaming. Then say that this means you can control the dream, and it's really cool because it's just like reality. If she seems interested, then you can go into the techniques and dream control and recall. But by stating the simple definition of LDing, and why anyone would want to do it, you should be able to explain it to her without it sounding weird.

Ive told all my friends and basically all i did was tell them how excited i am to try it, becuase I can do anything i want without limitations. Basically every one of my friends wants to do it now too. But their really open about things like that.

The furthest I've ever talked about this to any friends is to say "I can control my dreams". Some looked at me like I was some himalayan mystic and others just said "cool".
