Strange things I've noticed physically while LDing

The first few times I began having LDs I didn't know what they were. When I was dreaming I would suddenly experience an extremely loud pounding or throbbing that felt like it was actually my brain throbbing and then I would begin to LD. When I would start to lose lucidity, that loud throbbing would come back and I would wake up. It was quite strange at first and I was worried that something was wrong with my brain, but it has since stopped.

Also, several times I would wake up and my arm would be completely numb, maybe from laying on it wrong? I would be in the middle of an LD and I would be able to feel that my arm was going numb, and I would make myself wake up so I could change positions. Is anyone else aware of things going on around them physically or otherwise while in an LD? The first few LDs I had in my dorm room while napping during the day and I could swear that I could still hear my roommates and even partially open my eyes to see them without ever interrupting my dream.

One time, this was strange, I was having an amazing LD and I felt that my arm was going numb, so I eventually decided that I needed to wake up and move it. So I did. Only to realize that it was a false awakening, and when I really did wake up, my arm wasn't numb at all! Very strange.

I've had that numb feeling as well. A few nights ago, I was having an LD and in it my hands were freezing cold. It was kind of uncomfortable, so I woke myself up. I realized that both my hands were numb for some reason (I was lying on my back with my hands on my chest). It was just a standard "pins and needles" kind of numb, and it went away quickly once I repositioned them.

So when you decided to wake up was it just because your hands were freezing and it was uncomfortable or did you have any idea of what was really going on? Because I actually remember thinking while I was dreaming, "oh crap, my arm is going numb I must be laying on it wrong, guess I'm going to have to wake up and take care of this." And actually had to agrue with myself why I should wake up and leave my lucid dream. When you guys are dreaming are you really aware of your physical body back in bed?

I think I woke myself up just because it was uncomfortable, but I'm not sure. When I'm LD'ing, I don't recall ever being aware of my physical body back in bed.. I'm too engrossed in the dream itself.
