      Meet my dream friends!

When I dream, often times people from my life are in the dream, and I automatically accept them as being who they're supposed to be. But then when I wake up, I realize that they looked nothing like the real person. Problem was, I couldn't recall exactly what the dream-friend looked like.

It wasn't until one of my first low-level LDs that I was able to closely examine my dream-friends. It was very strange; some of them were animals, some looked like strangers, and some even looked like other different people that I knew.

My assumption about the explanation was that probably that person looked in the dream like an extremely exaggerated characature of their real self. Maybe my sub-consious' projection of them?
      What do you think?

I think you are on to something with your subconcious projection theory.
Most of the time, I either know the person and they look almost exactly like the person I know, or else they are a total stranger.
you must be the change you wish to see in the world...

Or maybe you just couldn't remember what they looked like so they appeared as whatever popped into your head at the moment.

yes...dreams tend to exaggerate. if your friend appears as an animal, think about what personalities and character traits are associated with that animal..perhaps they are found in your friend?

and some even looked like other different people that I knew[/b]
ahh. again, think about personalities and character traits...find soemthing they have in common.

Yes, I would figure that, but sometimes I can see no similarities whatsoever. For example, a good friend of mine had the face of the actor Robin Williams, although I cannot see any physical or mental similarities. It vexes me...

sometimes I have the feeling of knowing people in my dream from "somewhere else " maybe they are charictoristics of a past life in wich you knew them. ? one of the great mysteries of life eh.

Or maybe they are characters that your mind creates as a manifestation of another perspective you didn't realize you had.

I have had several LDs with people, one of them involved the axis player models from day of defeat, to bad I lost lucidity for about 30 seconds and shot them all in the head with an stg44 in that timeframe They were the only people I have talked to and they were cool too

well if you see peoples faces differently in all your dreams then i seriously envy you. you have a very obvious dreamsign.
try this, whenever you see a friend that pops up in your dreams at all, always stop to examine them, think to yourself 'is this how he should look like?' and if you make that a habit then you should do this in your dreams as well, therefore recognizing they have no physical similarities and turning lucid.
as for why? my money would be on symbolism, maybe their faces look different because thats what you think of when you think of that person.maybe the robin williams face on another friend symbolises that you imagine them to be funny,a good actor with lots of confidence or the like. anyways if you trin yourself to examine people you know then you should be firing off nightly LDs in no time

I just had a dream (not a lucid one) where all of the people in the dream looked the same. And they had no faces. But still each person was different, and I knew each by name. Pretty bizzare, eh?

P.S. Damascus, where'd you get those pictures in your sig?
