Question about becoming lucid

This has been happening to me a lot in the past few days. I'll be dreaming, and some piont during them I realize that I'm dreaming, but as I start to become lucid, and think about what I'm going to do in my LD. It's like everything just turns black, I don't even have a chance to save the dream from fading away....it's just sudden darkness. I once had a lucid dream before, and that didn't happen. My guess would be that I'm too eager, so the dream just stops. Could that be the cause of it? Is there a technique that could prevent that from happening.

You are probably just too exited about it, If you have enough time before loosing it just rub your hands together or spin around.

Are you new to lucid dreaming? If you've only had a few before then I suggest to just keep at it. I've heard that maintaining lucids becomes easier with experience alot, and it seems to be turning out that way for me and my own dreams.
