Thread: How long would it take to always control your dreams???

Is there anyone out there that is at a Level 10: “Free Will Lucid” ???? if so how long did it take you to get around that stage??

First of all, please understand that there is no true way to accurately measure lucidity. These 'lucid level' tutorials were developed within a few days, while a credible measure may take years to develop. These 'lucid levels' are bursting with subjectivity. They are only viewpoints, not standards.

You may never gain the ability to always control your dreams. Lucid dreaming is still mostly subconscious, but that's simply because we cannot consciously comprehend and command total control. Take for example the command "I want to teleport to a beach."

Tropical beach or polar?
Sunny or overcast?
What time of day?
Are there other people (what do they look like)?
What color is the water?
How far can you see?
Is it an island?
How big?
Are there waves?
How big?
How fast?
What color?
What noise?
What color is the sand?
Texture?
Etcetera, etcetera...

As you can see, if your dreams were totally conscious, you'd have to take all of these characteristics into account and then some. Most people find it easier (and less taxing on the mind) to let their subconscious control most of the dream, while they provide guidelines.

As for controlling frequency of lucid dreaming: Keep in mind that non-lucid dreams are a natural (and most likely necessary) process of the mind. I hear that some people have lucid dreams once a night. It depends on the person's physiology, their schedule, their outlook, and their sheer will.

A lot of it also depends on how your brain is wired. There are some people that are naturally lucid and have a high degree of control, and then again, theere are many of us that have to fight for every LD and are still working on control.

It really depends for every person. But having a positive outlook on improvement and focusing really helps! (for me at least)

Ah, so true.

I find that my conscious creativity comes in spurts and that I haven't really perfected the art of creativity on demand, so I could see all of my LDs being very boring for me if I was in total control all of the time. I feel like I get a lot of my more creative ideas, images and associations when I am watching the river of thought that goes on below the surface of waking life.

A lot of the time I also find I can stabilize my consciousness more if I don't try to influence the content of my dreams so much. Am I still lucid? Yes, in that my "waking" consciousness is present and my normal inner dialogue is intact. But currently when I try to consciously materialize something specific, my dream vision gets hazy and I slip into unconsciousness.
