      100% way to attain lucidity

Ok, i've been able to geta lucid dream everynight that i want now for about a year, and this is how i do it:
When i lay down and close my eyes to go to sleep i make items with my mind, such as apples and chairs and things. After about 5 mins of this i thing of weird or gross things i wouldnt do i real life, such as sawing my arm or something (lol i know it sounds dumb ), or the one that gives me the most is walking into a police station and taking there guns and shooting myself in the head and keep walking towards them attacking them, after thinking about this for a while i forget that i was dreaming but continue to be able to do the things i want , i doubt this will work for everyone, but sure has worked for me almost evertime. I've been doing this for so long that i just had to post it somewhere, why not share the wealth
Send me a mail if you have any questiong [email protected]

      Very interesting Danatoth!
      Thanks for sharing

Its very similar to a method I was considering (still developing)

Basically involving 'incubating' a dream that involves something you wouldn't normally do and would make you question it.

This is based on the idea of hypnosis, where you are in a similar low state of mind. You can only be told to do what you would normally do.
Thus the moment you think its real, and you're doing something like sawing off someones head... something goes *click* what the hell???

I'll try this tonight.. I'm a good guinea pig because I havent had an LD in a while (due to work stress)

      [EDIT]
The biggest problem people will have with this method is the same as with VILD - some people can't visualise it well enough for it to become a dream, and other people can't fall asleep while visualising like that.

some people can't visualise it well enough [/b]
And others cant visualize altogether. Sounds like a good idea though, kind of like getting into a daydream then slipping into an actual dream.

I'll try it but I have trouble visualizing and falling asleep at the same time. BTW, how long would it usually take you to go to sleep? I don't want to be awake for 5 hours doing it.

sawing my head off and shooting myself in the arm

i like your method. believe that all the methods have something in common by holding on to a part of consiousness while falling asleep. i like your though it sounds exciting.

      thanks

That actually makes more sense that what one would think. Here is pretty much why that would work, in my opinion:

      1. You are pretty much taking control of the HI since the beggining. Visualising things can account as HI, and the fact that you are purposely controlling it and keeping your consciousness through the process make it more likely to keep it until you enter the dream.

      2. By envisioning yourself doing something like cutting your arm, you will be stimulating your senses, and taking focus away from what you are doing in the waking world. If you concentrate hard enough on these feelings and in the action itself, it should be able to slowly gain more realism and you will slowly be consumed by this dream world.

Anyway, that is my take on it. I will see if I can try this tonight or tomorrow...

P.S. Do you do this with a combination of the WBTB method, or do you just do it before you fall asleep? I am guessing number 1...
      If I hadn't made me
I'd be more inclined to bow
Powers that be would have swallowed me up
But that's more than I can allow...

Can't hurt to try, I guess. Unless you accidentally saw your arm off for real (OK, bad joke)

Alright ive had quite a bit of mail and question about this, so ill delve (if thats how u spell it ) deaper into this. Alright first off, i was trying alot of methods i found on websites, such as looking for dream signs, and keeping a dream journal. None of these methods realy worked for me so i decided to try my own way. Now i will tell you guys in more detail into how i did this.
First off i try visualizing during the day, during meditation. To be able to visualize better here is a good method. Try visualizing something, such as an apple or a car in your mind, once your able to this fairly easily go to step 2
Step 2: Visualize the object (in this case an apple) and see the shadows, and the testure FEEL the apple., the ridges and the stem. Peel the apple and smell it. Once you can do this without trying go to step 3
Step 3: Viusalize something that doesnt exist. Such as a pickle from pluto, then once you can do this with ease repeat step 2 with this object.

Once you can do these all during meditation you should be able to do it when going to sleep with ease, it will be much easier to visualizing things that you can do to yourself that will remind yourself your in a dream.

Now here is something that i didnt mention that i probably should have.
Be aware i DON'T want anyone to flame me for this: i do use recreational drugs, Psylociden mushrooms and marijuana. These do make the dream world and the real world more similar, so if i look at things while im high
and think, no that cant be real, then i do this in the dream world, and since the real world and the dream world are more similar i think it is easier for me to have lucid dreams

I hope this helps you guys
One day I just know im going to wake up from "reality" and laugh so hard because it was a lucid dream.

This sounds to me like HIT. Hypnogogic imagery technique. Although I have pretty vivid HI, I usualy just fall into a regular dream or sleep.
Do you stay focused on not falling asleep?

I can't speak for Danatoth, but you intentionally focus on certain images. As you begin to fall deeper into sleep the images begin to appear on there own. thus leading you into a dram. .... Hpofully

Oh yes. I forgot. As far as the initial images. Rather than making up complete images from your subconcious, try to focus on somthing in its past tense. Such as visualizing you driving in your car as opposed to making up the whole seen in you head.
      Does that make any sense?

Maybe coffe or the like would help, as slipping into these dream images might lead you to falling asleep.
      Sweet technique though!!

Danatoth: I am SO incredibly going to try your way. It's close to what I've been doing, but your way is a bit more refined. (the visualising o'course, not the drugs, hehe.)

As for all those having trouble with the visualising, I'll just have to add my 2 cents worth. And that is, I find it much easier to concentrate on visualising things that I really WANT. Then there's motivation to practice in the day as well.

I'm super tired at the moment...dunno if any of that made any sense.

I would suggest WBTB I guess. But the guy who developed VILD (visually incubated dreams), reckons that its not necessary.
Your HI apparently feels as if it leads into your first REM cycle,
so whether you had delta in between it doesn't matter that much.
I'm guessing WBTB would be easier though

Good idea. Its like memory techniques - the more 'real' and associative it is for you the better.

And you still sound sexy hyeahbaby:

      <!--QuoteBegin-Howetzer

try to focus on somthing in its past tense
Good idea. Once again - your associative abilities will be enhanced with good memory of a past event.

Of course, its relative ... anything you think of has to draw from past experiences. But something specific should work best.

I tried your technique last night. Didn't have an LD, but otherwise was good, had vivd dreams. I fousedon getting on a train. When the train's doors are about to close, a ringing sound is mad. Focusing on that sound reinforced the vision and made it much clearer. Maybe some of you should include sound with your visualiisation? Just a suggestion.

Definitely. When I suggested using lots of association in the other threads, I meant in all ways - including sensory.
So sight, feeling (touch things), hearing, smelling, tasting perhaps
And animate it in an interesting way that gets your attention somewhere deep in that skull

Hey, thanks for taking care of the avatar. I used your technique last night to relax and start the WILD process. I imagined myself floating on a small raft in the ocean.

Man, it really seemed to jumpstart it! Unfortunately, I was too tired and fell asleep instead. I did have one very vivid, but non-lucid dream in which I saw at least three of my major dreamsigns!

Doh! I will be glad when I get off of this overtime so that I can start LDing more than once a week!

Bottom line, there is something to your technique, thanks for sharing it!
you must be the change you wish to see in the world...
