Jolts waking you up
This doesn't always comply with just lucidity. But have you ever been sleeping and you're there dreaming having a good time when BAM! Something hits you in the numbers or face. Then the jolt of your body quickly bracing for an impact actually wakes you up and you flinch really bad. I hate it because it happens a lot to me and it wakes you up and makes it hard to go back to sleep. The last time I can think of a time is a couple of nights ago I was dreaming I was crossing the street and a car hit me and it caused me to wake up. Does this happen to you a lot?

It happens to me every now and then but usually I'm able to fall back asleep pretty easily. It always happens when I'm falling off something or even just tripping a bit while walking... and my legs fly up in my bed! :P It startles me pretty badly at first but I end up being entertained.

This is called a hypnotic jerk and happens alot to me to. It is just the natural process of your body relaxing and falling asleep.

It's a hypnotic jerk and happens when your body is exhausted. Nothing to worry about, I for some strange reason, enjoy them :P

Yes let me just add that this is called a hypnotic jerk... :P

I've never had a hypnic jerk during a lucid. Usually I get them as I'm just falling asleep. I'll see a flash of scene (skating, walking, stairs) or think about that scene, and suddenly jolt. Never jolted out of a lucid, unless my alarm (or a pet) was the precursor!

Mhm...I get these ALL the time...especially when I'm very tired, like NeAvo said. I don't think they have much to do with dreaming, ...I don't know why they happen but nearly everyone's got them to one extent or another...
