I am a geek for sure. slashdot.org is my homepage, I have ordered numerous things from www.thinkgeek.com and worst of all, I am a computer salesman (and I sell everything else at Best Buy). I think to be in touch with your dreams you have to be allitle off the radar of "those cool kids." I mean you can't show off your dreams while ____insert place here____.

:D I actually prefer people who aren't necessarily the center of the "in-crowd". They seem to have more character, more personality. They're more unique and more memorable. In high school, one of my classes was *filled* with those "popular" girls, and I just could NOT tell them apart. They all had the exact same hair, clothes, accessories.. they walked and talked the same. Yuck.Quote:

oh yeah, all kinds of them....everybody seemed to uh, that's right they're just walkin around doin nothin, even on their own....play with the children, kid around. anybody that the son wasn't ashamed to walk out the way they was, who had a tattoo, or the fat lady and the bareheaded person, or the alligator skin....that wouldn't be odd, they had so many odder things down there. but that goes out to whatever carnival all over the world, all over the countries. and a lot of freak of natures were put into it. used to call them "geeks." a "geek" was a person who was an alcoholic or on drugs. and they put em in a cage, and he was a wild-man. but they stopped that in the cities and they..but the carnival got traveled in the country...they still had the "geeks." they'd all come pay money to see a man like an animal in a cage. but uh, it wasn't done because it was uh uh uh a playground...you see, some for the first time were amazed....and you remember it was part of the sideshow. but today they got so many "geeks" out there...that they're actually running amongst the public, not in a cage where they should be.

I think I am going to order the caffeine shirt from ThinkGeek.com because I like shirts, they are soft and fit nicely onto me, and I am also fond of chemistry.

Ah yes, the question of if we are all geeks which of course has to lead to the question of what a geek truly is.
There is a sentence. A piece of knowledge if that interpetated by all those damn TV teen show characters they would boost to the top of the social charts and fuck every girl they wanted to. And that sentece is...
Geekness is a state of mind.
Let me explain. Having extensive knowledge in what society would call an unorthadox subject is merely an indicator of geekdom and not a inducer of it.
As to say. One could know a lot about one of these unorthadox subjects and be considered a geek, or not.
But one could be a geek and not know nothing at all.
It is a geek's paradigm on people, the world, conversational scenerios, and not life itself that makes one a geek., not what one knows.
For example Rick could be a software engineer at Microtrain and an avid Magic The Gathering player but because of how he talks to people, acts cool, and presents the information that he knows in a cool way he is perceived as being knowledgable and cool.
On the other hand Jordon could work at the same company and not even know as much as Rick when it comes to computers but is considered a geek becuase he is has what I like to call "geek traits."
Ones appearance does not factor into geekdom as much as one think. One could look like a geek and still not be one or one could look like a regular person and still be one.
I could go on but it would result in a very long post in which I donot have the time to do. So let me conclude.
"If one thinks like a geek, and has the paradigm of a geek, one is a geek."
Knowledge or unorthadox activities donot factor into this.
Geeks don't live and be cool they live to be cool. They don't understand that whatever you do as long as you do in a "cool" (a state of mind that a geek wouldn't be able to comprehend nor definie accurately the traits that matter) mannor.
