Just wanted to know, do you know if a lot of people in your family can LD?
Personally, my dad had a big hand in teaching me how to control my dreams (what you guys call DILD) when I was young (about 7-8, I'm 27 now) because I used to have terrible nightmares and wake everyone up by either screaming in my sleep, crying or falling out of the bed, or some combination of all of the above. He told me that dreams are generated by the mind, and since we are all in control of our minds, then logically, we should be able to control our dreams. I had never really considered the possibility before, but after that, I was able to control all but the worst nightmares with a little practice. When I asked him more about dream control, he told me that sometimes, when he wanted to relax, he could make up his own dreams by planning them during the day, in advance, then at night, he'd be able to do whatever he thought of during the day, which is sort of what I do when I decide to LD (though a lot of the time, I can't afford to wake up tired, so I don't do it).
According to my dad, after he got the hang of it, he could either DILD whenever he wanted or MILD(?) if he planned ahead, and do so rather easily. I DILD when I think about it, though I'm a little rusty at planning a dream ahead of time, I haven't really done it since university, maybe only once or twice. So...all that to say, I think that LDing might be a hereditary talent. Do you know of any books that would back up this assumption?
Sorry about the wordiness of my posts...this is how I tend to write...
