if you become a lucid pro, and you can have them at will blah blah blah, do you think all this going back and forth from two realities could I dunno make you crazy? or maybe depressed? I really don't know I'm not even close to mastering LDs..
Mabey it will make you neglect your normal life because the other life is so much better, I dont know i havnt mastered it yet either..
Like I mean, when you become totally obsessed with it you would just sit out the day and wait for the day to pass and go to sleep again
or...when you learn to 'slow time' in your dreams spend *years* there..
Just make sure that your LD world does not become more important than your waking world and you begin to neglect those around you :(
Hmmm..I cant say I wouldnt hehe, but if it will have any effects..I dont know..but i think when you start the time freeze thing, a month becomes a year, a year becomes 5 years..and so on..until you are like a ultra powerful spirit being that can live without the body and stay there forever :chuckle:
Dunno bout that..but everything is possible
hmm...this is one hell of a subject...
but really...does anyone think it could drive you insane? (and don't get all "Well what is sanity?" on me :-P )
I think if you become to obsessive with it and everything revolves around and you MUST MUST MUST you will eventually go "insane" I think, but thats the trick to remain sane and keep it together and be patient
Maybe not insane. But perhaps Autistic.
I have an autistic cousin. He is always in his dream world. In fact many older cultures call autistic the 'Dream people'
that doesn't make sense to me. it just seems irrelevent..
How do you know that autistic people are not living in a dream world and that their physical bodies are on auto pilot?
ahhh, now I see the relevance! sorry...that is very interesting..
it seems DV is really heating up!! :-P
Back to the question, can LD make you crazy? depressed? and how do you know when to its time to stop?
As Stephen LaBerge said, once he stopped desireing the LDs he stopped having them. If you begin to get depressed from them then just stop wanting them, and youll stop having them. Personally I dont think you could go insane because ultimatly your mind will prevent this. You have control on what affect these dreams have on you..you could interpret them different ways but I would say if you go insane it was partially your decision to let your dreams get to you.
I also belive you can't go insane from haveing to may LD. Although you may find your Dream World as a retreat from your every day life. There will always still varibles from the outside world that pull you out of this retreat. Hunger, realationships, and money (root of all eveil, next to power). The only possible way i could see you go crazy from Lucid Dreamin is if MAYBE you were knowcked into a Coma. And while dreaming you knew you were in 1 and couln't get out. So when you finnally got out of 1, your perseption of the outside world is screwed up.
Hypothetically... if we only had a Time Machien
I'm wondering that if for some LDers having these dreams all the time could be bad for you physically....
Because so many of my dreams are extremely intense (flying, falling, fighting, etc.) I often wonder if my adrenaline glands (and other parts of my system are not working in overdrive and if that could be a bad thing in the long run. So far there appears to be no physical side effects, but I'm wondering about long term. Sometrimes I get paranoid that I wonder if I should have a brain scan or something.
As long as you keep an active waking life, though (pleanty of things to keep you from dwelling in the nether realms of dreamland) I think we should be okay mentally... My dreams have definitely affected me a lot, but I have learned over time not to attribute too much meaning or thought to them. (I occasionally still do and have to reorganize my thoughts sometimes).
I wonder about getting my head checked too, I dont have any problems per se, but dream constantly and having so many ld's and waking up with them, in the worse case residual pains like when I fell off the cliff or the banshee nearly making blood shoot outa my ears...I often wonder too if it could be a bad thing.
You must find balance between the two.
And seeing the autistic as dreamers... I never made that correlation... and it works perfectly, alot of them do seem like they are on autopilot, just like we are in a normal non lucid dream, but at times we have moments of incredible clarity and insight and mental power, or to actually see things in complete detail, this also fiollows the autistic personality.
as for insanity, I honestly think I have been close to it a few times, it gets rough dealing with two realities, especially since I beleive they are equally real. I have said it before though, the simple thought.
What is real in one world is not nessesarily real in the other, everything that is happening now I will regard as my reality as I exist now, the past is memory and the future is hope and dream.
Dont worry about it for too long, I nearly had BLOOD shoot outa my ears.
Lewis Black "I heard something the other day... it was the most insane thing I have EVER heard.... If it werent for my horse, I woudlent have spent that year in college.... Now dont think about that for too long as blood will SHOOT our of your ears!
Im curious as to this slowing time in dreams (Off topic abit). If you spend what seems like 5 years in a dream, would you not wake up a changed person? After spending so long doing amazing things wouldn't waking up cause serious problems, you might even forget your life in the real world, even grow to loathe it because it's so restricting and you yearn for the dream world.
I guess im saying that extending time in dreams may be possible but dangerous... erm so yeah :? Sorry for straying so far but this topic got me thinking.
I think spending like a couple of years in a dream or even more will effect your normal life as you will no longer be used to it,actually,I think if you do so you don't want to return anymore,i wonder if you even will in the end..
no.. you dont.. this place becomes just a dream.
it works both ways,
When you awaken in the other place, you miss here
after a time there and then you wake back up here you miss there
its frustrating.
And yes you do change, you do grow, the mind shuts out alot of the experience though when you return to the othre place, I dont htink it can deal with the issue, nearly drove me nuts, but it is still there, you do remember it, like a summer long ago, its there, you dont remember what you did every day, but there are certain points that are sharp
Ever been decapitated (in dreams of course)?Quote:

Happened to ne once -It was the strangest experience -more shock than oain 'cause it happened so fast. I woke up a split second after my spine was severed, though and woke up to do some stretching and calisthenics -just to make sure I was still connected and everything. :rolllaugh: :makeitstop:
ummmm. Feel sorry for you. grrr. You really havent spent years in your DREAM, JUST MEMORIES FROM YOUR WAKING LIFE BEING ACESSED SO THAT YOU PERSIVE IT AS YEARS. Jeez, you know how many times iv had to say that.
When you find your soul mate and then fuckin wake up you try telling me its just some random memory that your subconsious came up with.
(edit) let me clarify... when you find and build a lifetime with your soulmate and then wake up to find none of it is real anymore you get back to me.
Sorry...
That must have been nice. But i don't belive you found your soul mate though. Don't forget the mind is a tricky thing my friend, it knows you better than you, cause it is you. You know what your ideal soulmate would be, thus does your brain (subconse and un subconse). Who better knows you better than you. Although if you did find your soulmate and you beilve it more power to you. But she could be your interpertaion of an ideal soulmate.
Plz dont hrt me
sorry Seri, that sounds really sad...
the only thing i worry about with lucid dreams is that dreams are meant to be like a release and a place for your mind to sort out all the days shit
so if your telling your mind what to dream then is it kind of obstructing it from doing its job? :|
You never told me that...Quote:

Sorry...
I do understand though. There are few things worse than waking up from an experience like that and realizing that it was all a dream. Or that it was a part of a life that you're not living anymore.
Anyone ever see that Star Trek episode where Captain Picard gets hit with some beam-thingie that knocks him out and he lives another lifetime? He wakes up at the end of that life, many years later, only to realize that about five minutes had gone by with him passed out on the ship. That episode always gets me.
For the record though, despite those dreams, I don't believe in 'soul mates'. :)
Interesting...Quote:

Seems so. I feel like it is as if my conscious mind and unconscious mind are melding together, so it's not as though the unconscious is not doing its job -more like I am able to witness it "do its job" first-hand... kinda like an active participant rather than an inactive (un-aware) participant.
hmm....I hear some people wake up tired as hell after lucid dreaming...Quote:

 sorry you don't believe in soul mates Lost Soul.
I've been with mine for over 20 years(since 1981). If something were to happen, I'd shrivel up and die! It's that tight of a bond.
what exactly is a soul mate.
Well, as I once said, I believe i've found my same-sex soul mate (whether there's one for each sex..I have no idea). I believe he is my sould mate because we are eerily similar and I believe we are actually the same soul dwelling within two bodies...like we were separated. And
gotta go, i'll post more later :okbyenow:
um...so in other words...someone who thinks just like you? :? *scratches head*
I used to think that it was someone that you felt completed you, someone who complimented your life. Your missing puzzle pieces so to speak. But I don't think that way anymore. I think that we can find our missing pieces within ourselves if we just look hard enough. I'm sorry to sound so tactless here, but I think it's stupid to think that any other being can complete you. Quite frankly, I believe that no other person in this world is worthy of being my second wing. When you love someone, you give them a piece of yourself. That's too high a price for me.Quote:

If you feel that you've found someone you think completes you, then that's wonderful! I'm very happy that you've been given that elusive gift of sharing yourself, and having another share themselves with you. You took a big risk, and I'm happy that it worked out well for you. :)

There is also a thing refered to as "Twin Soul"(I believe)
The twin soul would not only be your soul mate, but also be your lover, your big brother, your caring sister and your best friend at the same(not litteraly of course, but in a sense it would feel that way)
Now thats true love..no?
Alec! *snuggle*
Paperdoll, I've had thoughts about it being another reality, but I dont think if you do all you can and want to do while your asleep will hurt you...unless you start sleeping 18 hours a day and missing real life abligations....I dont know if I buy the idea of soulmates, it's definately romantic, but would your soulmate be your exact same, or your exact opposite....If I found my exact same I might not get along well, and my exact opposite might be aggrevateing as well....As far as a life mate, it depends on mutual love, hard work, growing and many other things.....more twords complimenting eachother.
Anybody ever read 2150AD? They go into a lot about twin souls, and close souls.
I think the theory goes something like all sould have a resonant frequency.
If two sould have the same frequency, they are twin.
The closer the resonant frequency between souls, the closer they will be and the more compatible they will be.
Pick up a copy of the book if you can find it. Really a good read!
Thanks for the tip,if I find it,i'll take alook at it 8)Quote:

Shawndow, I didnt mean to be an asshole, I just kinda get upset about this stuff, its weird when most of your life is just a memory that according to everone else but myself, didnt happen, makes me wonder who the hell I am, and how I have come to be ther person I am through experiences that didnt happen.
I dont think its a matter of completion though, I think a soulmate is another spirit with the same EXACT resonance of your spirit, this is not easy to find. Its somone that thinks feels experiences the world like you do, someone that you can relate to on every level... And a soulmate could very well be the same sex as you, but in that place I happend to find my mate to be the opposite
Lost soul, theres alot I havent told you.
And some things I do not think you can complete in yourself without the interaction of others, a soulmate allows you find out who you are through interaction with a spirit that is virtually the same as yours in origin, the only difference being their perception and experience is different than yours, so it does make them different being they arent your mirror image. And they do react to situations differently.
But because they perceive the world around them the same way you do, the both of you learn, through experiencing the world together, and comapring notes so to speak =).
And I am sorry you think the way you do now and cant express how sorry I am for helping you think the way you do now. =(
And I did not control the dream, I usualy only have influence on myself, either its that I am stuck with low level lucidity even though I am fully aware its a dream. OR I am traveling by wormhole to other places and times... far fetched? probably not, wormholes exist on the quantum level whats to say the spirit which has no mass cant travel through these wormholes? I can get into that theory in another thread I am gona start tonight.
So I have become lucid most my life by form of epiphany, some times I realise due to the events and circumstances of the dream but most of the time its just like my mind says quietly, something isint right. In the event of those long dreams, its different I wake up consious, its like waking up from a nights sleep but oop! where the hell am I? and I have already said what its like in relation to this place only becoming a fuzzy dream, and that place becoming the reality.
I only recently started trying to induce lucidity.
Last night I MILD'd I was in a house that I thought was my own, but it was not. Well anyways, everything was as real as here as usual, wrtiting is stable digital devices are normal, and electronics tend to work. But I knew It was a dream.
I tried the spinning technique to change the surroundings... all I accomplished was getting dizzy and waking myself up because of it.
I dont know whats the deal with my dreams, why would some of them have reality so firmly in place, or rather have the same rule-set and myself having the same abilities as here, and others not?
I know somone is going to say self doubt blah blah blah limitations of your mind... but I can change into a dragon remember? can soar the skies on my own power, no magic.. I can even do that though too, beleive me, I think I can do anything, here or in dream whether or not I can do it though seems to depend on the environment...I dont get it. Why does it seem like my dreams are different than most everyone else? Once people attain lucidity they can paint their world. I seem to have wandered into somone elses painting.
...damned deja-vu.
So am I. But thanks. Because of you, I've learned a lot about myself.Quote:

And do you think the price you pay for a soul mate is worth it? Sorry, but I don't. Giving up a piece of myself to someone who's just going to throw it back in my face? Look, maybe there is such a thing as a soul mate or whatever. Maybe I just SUCK ASS at finding mine. Or maybe my stepfather was right and he did drop dead before we met. After doing this to myself twice, I think I've learned that my soul mate doesn't exist and I'm the only one I can ever depend on for everything. There is no one out there for me to share myself with in perfect trust. There is no one out there who will be my 'perfect match'. Some people have that perfect match, I guess. And that's just wonderful. Hooray for them.Quote:

And for those of you who haven't already figured it out, I am the one who shared that dream with Serinanth. I am his 'friend' and we proved that it happened when we spoke the next day. There was no mistaking it... he told me details that he couldn't possibly know unless he'd been there, in that dream, with me.
So for everyone who can't get enough of talking about shared dreaming, it does exist and it is possible. Stop posting about it and just friggin do it. But make sure you know what you're getting into. Make sure you're mentally able to handle it because obviously I wasn't.
Fuck this...
Willow out.
please.....I'm seriously crying now in front of my screen...
Would a hermaphrodite have a soulmate??!!
WOA, DEEP...
If it ever came to exploring the mind of any 1 on this earth. Seri would be a sure canidate.
AS for Soulmate. umm Trust is the first step to building any relationship. From what it sounds like, youv been hurt quite a few times. That makes me feel very  at the momment. But there is 1 abosulte person that you might consider trusting..... God.
Soulmate you sure peeked the penical of my curiosity when metioned that you and Seri Dreamscaped. I havn't been able to get Dream Scaping out of my mind since i herd about it. I'm just wondering how you did it though. Maybe you guys should post you experince on Lucid Experinces (although it sounds personal). Did you meet somewhere or did you focus on a certain resoante energy.
WOW
ummm
wow
Shawndow, you are absolutely right. There is one person I can put the whole of my trust and heart and soul into and without her I don't know where I would be right now. She is my strength, she cries my tears. But before I digress any further...
Anyway, how did I do it? I don't know... you'd be better off asking Serinanth if he knows how he did it because I didn't really do anything. I just sorta popped into the Dreaming and there he was. I didn't focus on him, I didn't focus on any specific area or energy resonance... I just went to sleep. I don't even remember if I was thinking about him, but considering my feelings at the time, it's likely that he was on my mind. I'm not going to post anything more about it because he's already described things from his point of view. The details of my point of view are very personal and very dear to me and I'd like to keep it that way. Thank you for respecting that; I appreciate it.
I also want to apologize to you guys. I'm sorry for freaking like that. I'm not sure what set me off... it wasn't really anything specific... just a general feeling of shitty, I guess. I am still in a sufficient amount of pain, and though that is a poor excuse, I think it did contribute to my wiggin out. So... yeah. I'm sorry and stuff.
I suck at apologies... :(
I just wanted it to happen, I have no idea how it did exactly happen.
Shawndow, I already posted about it, "the day the scientist went out to lunch."
What did you think I was making this stuff up? I wasnt kidding, neither am I now.
I meditated for several hours focusing, and then transitioned directly into dream, and there she was. And Im not kidding about the figure that I saw afterwards either. It was a warning about what I did, I dont think I was supposed to do it no matter that I havent a clue how it actually worked.
And yes I do think the price is worth it, that is my experience not yours though, it may not be worth it to you, but finding out who I am is important to me and finding somone akin to my spirit, I am going to have to do alot of searching, but I think my soulmate would be searcing for me to the same degree I am searching.
I think thats why my dreams are so odd, I am searching even there, we found each other once so far.
And yeah it sucks for me too, I have failed 6 times in this place.. i wont even get into how many times in teh dream world but im not going to give up just yet.
The price is always worth it when someone else is footing the bill.
And what the hell? You just sort of summoned me into your dream? Like "hey, I wanna see this girl" (for some reason that is still unknown to me) and POOF! there I was? And then the rest of it? How does that work? How is that fair? And for fuck's sake, why do I even care at this point? Good lord, I'm grumpy. It happened, it's in the past, and we learned something from it. So... neat or whatever.
Finding out who I am is very important to me, especially now that I realize I am the only one I have. I don't need to find some fucking 'soul mate' to complete me! For a long time, I thought that I could find my missing pieces in someone else. I thought that having love in my life would complete me. But both you and Dave showed me that I was wrong, and I still thank you both for it. There is no one 'akin to your spirit'. That's a fairy tale notion that humans like to hang onto for some reason. I guess it makes us feel better. Whatever. If you think you have a soul mate that will complete you and she's alive and searching for you now, more power to you. Hope she finds you and you realize it when she does. That goes for everyone, too. If you can actually find completion in the company of someone else, then, hey, that's wonderful and I'm happy for you. Bright blessings for you.
Me? I hope my soul mate drops dead before I meet him because I don't even want to deal with the idea of love anymore. Am I being selfish? Hell yes I am. Do I care that I'm being selfish? Hell no! It's about time someone cared about me, even if it has to be me that does the caring. Whoever came up with the dumbass saying, "It is better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all" obviously never did it. He should be dragged out into the street and shot. Multiple times. And then stepped on.
Holy shit... I just went off on some psycho tangent and I have no idea what this topic was about...
I'm going to bed before I decide that I need another drink... or two.
Say Seeker,a little getting back to something but whos the writer of 2150AD,I was gonna try and get it but I need 2 know who wrote it,so if you could tell me i'd really appreciate it
Here is the amazon link: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detai...760961?v=glance
Author is Thea Alexander was written in 1971.
Really ahead of it's time. I read it when it was new, and think I am going to buy it again and see what 30 years have done to my perspectice.
REALLY GREAT BOOK.
I just re-read the scientist out to lunch thread. Goose bumps.
I would really like to make a connection with forum members, not for a deep personal relationship, but just to do it and hang out as friends.
I think Jill and I came close a couple of weeks ago.
Seri, I think we all should heed your warnings. Like you, I am an amature scientist and want to explore this from an objective point of view.

Seriously, thank you though. I don't mean to sound all 'pity me' and stuff because that's not the point of me saying all of this. I'm stronger than that. I just don't want to see anyone else hurt, that's all. As much as I complain about the human race as a whole, I still hold a lot of love in my heart for all living things. Ugh... love... I hate that word. There needs to be more words to describe the different levels and kinds of love instead of just one, comfortable blanket term.
Anyway, if anyone wants to find me in a dream, apparently you can just concentrate on me and I'll appear at your beck and call. It would be really cool to meet you guys though, dream and reality. :)
We should organize a lucid dreamers/crazy people camping trip or something. :-P

I don't think you should give up on love, soulmates, blah, or whatever you want to call it. Instead... just quit looking or caring, and go with the flow. I mean, I still think that my ex may have been my one, may still be the one again at some other time. But honestly... I'm human still, and I just don't care anymore. Sure, it hurts to think about. I couldn't even watch porn for weeks because when I did all I could think about is some other guy fucking my girl. But then I realised that I can't change things, I don't have control over the situation, and to be desperate and sad and weird is lame. So... I still talk to her(she's not pregnant... yeah!), and I just try to maintain a friendship, for whatever it's worth. However, it's definitely not like I don't have my own prospects. As I stated before, I am definitely human, and young, and full of...umm... hormones... yeah... we'll say that. I talk to other girls... work my ways... and simply see what happens. No worries, no regrets. I still strongly believe that everything happens for a reason. So... I'll live, and be me, and do what I do, and just hope that things go well. Not a whole lot else I can do. Just don't give up hope.

You rock.
Damn right I'm not looking anymore. But I have given up. Thus I am not looking or caring at this point. If I meet some guy and he's cute and wants to bang, well what the hell right? I'm still human. I still have my urges. Plus, everyone is doing it so I may as well too. No worries, no regrets. I also still talk to the two big loves of my life, and as far as I know we're still friends.
I'm not desperate and I'm not sad. Weird... well, yeah, I'm weird. I can't help that. :-P Anyway, I'm really trying to see the good in everything (why is that such a struggle for me?). I'm going on with my life, looking for my missing pieces within myself, and thanks to past experiences I have learned very valuable lessons. I hope you have, too, and I sincerely hope that all goes well for you on your life's path. From what little I know of you, you seem like a cool person, strong and sure of what you believe. I hope that you find what completes you and makes you happy someday soon, whether it be this woman or someone/something else. *hugs*
Paperdoll: I LOVE ROAD TRIPS! :D
I used to wake up drained when I first started having lucid dreams... but only because I used to have three or four each night and I would wake up (and then stay up) in between them. Most of them were so disturbing (apocalyptic, demonic, etc.) that I often didn't go back to sleep until I couldn't keep my eyes open anymore. After I got used to them, they calmed down and so did I. I still have them occasionally, but have learned to deal with them in ways that don't detract from my sleep.Quote:

As fer the whole soulmate concept... I don't believe in it. I do believe that some people are fortunate enought to meet someone who they were/are able to connect with on that deep of a level where their souls seem to entwine or "become one." I consider myself a romantic to some degree and also believe in predestination, but think that people often take the idea of a soulmate too far.
sorry bout that.
I will shorten that up.
I didnt focus/meditate on the thought of you...Lost soul
I focused on increasing my own ki level, when I transferred to dream though my thoughts came to you and poof.
I said it before I dont think a soulmate automatically completes the parts of yourself you have yet to find or understand.
Those can ony be found within yourself, a soulmate can help you find those peices in yourself, through experience of life together and learning from one another and helping the other find the missing peices in them.
This is how I think it works, you learn of yourself through learning about another, and trying to help them. But the parts of yourself you think are missing, or that you dont understand, they are within you.
Some decide to learn of themselves through interaction with the divine, others, through interaction with people, and hopefully a soulmate. I guess it depends on what your cup o tea is.

I will wake up tired from dreaming, its like your body is rested but YOU are not.

There needs to be more words to describe the different levels and kinds of love instead of just one, comfortable blanket term.
Greek breaks love down into four types:
storge (stor-gay) = affectionate love
filio (filayo) = brotherly/familial love
eros = sensual/sexual love
agape (agapay) = unconditional love
hmmm deep
I like that Chi thing serinth, have you ever been able to move objects with your mind...... J/K But for real, like say i wanted to Dreamscape in a Friends dream. Do I kind of concentrated and connect with there chi, or kind of focus on there physical descriptions.
Shawndow: I'm not married. :P
Evangel: That is awesome! For some reason, I'm horrid at being able to learn and retain languages other than English, but I try anyway. It's interesting that the Greek language has multiple words for love, yet English has only one. I'll have to do some reading on that and other languages. Thanks! :)
I`m sorry to buz in here(and I`m not a LD also) but...
I had about 2 or more dreams in which I think I was kinda of lucid but... I felt I had no way of getting out and it was very frustating . In the first dream of this nature which I recall exactly I was accepting every method indicateed by the "dream people"->one said that you must take a haircut in order to get out(I don`t think It was related to me not having one) and in some other dream I felt very frustrated and stole a car from a shop(or something like that) and ran away .
I also have some dreams in which everything fades and I become some sort lucid but... I can`t move->I feel myself inside the bed, paralyzed, and with eyes closed and I can`t open them nor move myself.. and sometimes I can hear mother....
For this things I developed a trick, actually its vibration of the head. First a lower intensity and then a higher one and... everytime I use that I get out of the dream instantly and open my eyes .
Oh yeh Cippboy It's called Sleep Paralysis , look it up here under a topic, or some where else
How about we all meet at the next Raelian outing?Quote:

I'm not that good at retaining other languages either. I know a little bit of Spanish, bits and pieces of Fijian (my mother's tongue) and a little bit of Hebrew. Becasue of my interest in the Bible, I have also have an interest in Hebrew and Greek... Music and mathematics also fascinate me although I never took courses past pre-calc! I think many other languages also have a wider understanding of love because they have more words that describe or allude to it...Quote:

Yeah, I hear ya. I have woken up several times after dreaming where my mind is laden with "stuff," while my body feels fine... There is a point where the mind can get stretched and warped to its limits and sometimes oblivion (as in sleep where you are not conscious) becomes a welcome reality.
Autistic people could just be the lucid dreamers of this world.

Nope, everything in the universe is energy. :)
Quarks, gluons, muons, etc. are just quantum wave fluctuations in the local energy field.
My point was that other languages (not just Greek) have different ways of defining love than the generric term we use in the English language. ..Quote:

I think the reason why a lot of people get confused and disheartened in love relationships is because they simply apply the term "love" and thus misunderstand the subtle differences between the different types of love...
I thought about that today, and I remembered that alpha radiation happens without a large amount of energy given off.
