My question is as the title states: "What is a "dreamguide"?".
I keep hearing about them, but I have no clue what they are. I tried a search for them and got nothing.
Also, I'm having trouble becoming lucid. I can't even get to SP. D: Any ideas?

Well I'm not exactly sure, but some people have lucid dreams where a dream character is special. Usually they know that you are having a lucid dream and they can teach you things or talk with you about it. I've only had one lucid dream where I may have had an experience with a dream guide.
It was an amazing experience, one of my favorites. There was a lady dressed in a fancy black robe with black hair, and she took my hand and flew up, and then down into water we were standing near. She took me really deep really fast. It was an exhilarating experience. I felt that she was different from normal dream characters, it was strange.
About becoming lucid, not everyone goes through sleep paralysis. And most people don't have WILDS so sleep paralysis isn't essential. Some of my WILDs have had a sort of sleep paralysis, and some haven't.
The main thing you need to do is keep a dream journal and try to notice things in your dreams to make you realize that you are dreaming. Sometimes it will be a strange circumstance, or doing something you couldn't or wouldn't normally do. Sometimes I just know I am dreaming without really thinking about it or doing a reality check, but it's always nice to do reality checks because you ground yourself deeper into your dream. Also when you become lucid, don't rush everything. Try to look around at the awesomeness of the dream world. Think of how amazing it is that it's as if you are really there. Try to feel things or hear things, like knocking on a desk.
Hope this helps!
dreamguide definitions vary personally...
1) a dream character who is a manifestation of yourself and your subconscious. Like a 'spirit guide'
2) (my personal belief) A character who is re-occuring and helpful in your dreams. A helpful character who simply guides you in your own dreams. Not a manifestation of yourself...just a character
....or
3) certain moderators in this forum are assigned the title of 'dream guide'.
sure gets confusing!
What james said.
A real dream guide would be a DC through which your subconscious is trying to "send you messages" or "teach you lessons," it's a pretty cool concept. Just linking your subconscious through to your conscious, it may be a really spiritual journey.
A dream guide on this forum is someone who can help/answer questions/etc, etc, you know the deal. Except they aren't your subconscious...unless you sleepwalk or something. Now that would be interesting.
A DG is just a DC you summon to help you with problems. Usually reoccurring. Some people view them as part of your subconscious, others see them as an actual sprit in your dreams.
Anyone you let guide you in your dreams...
It really is as simple as one let it be!
Usually its just a very helpful DC. The dream guides on this forum are supposed to be helpful too so its pretty much the same. I think part of the logic is that you might have manifestations of the guides here in your dreams.
I see.
Thanks for answering my question. :)
On the topic of sleep paralysis, you actually do experience it every night. You're just already sleeping when it happens, so you don't notice. The only people who will notice sleep paralysis are those who attempt the WILD. As you probably know, the WILD is not the only way to have a lucid dream- you could simply already be dreaming and then you suddenly realize that you are. So, what I'm trying to say is, not feeling the sleep paralysis come on is not going to inhibit your ability to have a lucid dream. :)
my "dream guide" is evil..:) he just tries to trick me into falling asleep, tells me I am immature because i am desturbing the process and only hunts for tail. hey, sometimes i do kill people instead..:D
anyway, he is not helpfull. can I transform him so he'll be more helpfull? i have had lucid dreams ever since i had nightmares as a child, but only recently heard the name lucid dream. I just DILD. it would be great if i could make him stop going head to head with me with willpower games and desturbing my fun.
i used to think he was a symbol for the part of the mind that controlled the sleep cycles and protected the conscious mind and such. but he/she is just a part of the dream?
Ah, no joke about the green people with stars around DV? Come on guys!
Anyway, as its been said, DG are those DCs that seem helpful, which means every one of your DCs can be one lol
